Why the American people do not root for many American boxers?

When I look at the other countries like UK, Mexico, Puerto Rico etc..All their people always root for their kind, I don't see that in America, it's really a shame!

All the Americans that root against American boxers should be shot, that's all!

Yeah just like Eno said, America is just too damn Diverse. We have people from all over the world living here who just so happens to like rootin for their Home Town Boxers. When you go to less Diverse Countries like Great Britton and Mexico ofcourse your going to Hear people rootin for Hatton and Chavez for the rest of their lives...

Either that or America just hasnt had a good Boxer stand out in a while except for Mayweather and we all know he's the villain

I don't understand why as an American I should root for other Americans. I didn't choose to join this team, I was just sort of born here. I don't root for men over women because I am male, and I don't root for white people over black people because I am white. I don't root for people with brown hair because my hair is brown, and I don't root for... Well, I don't know. I just don't understand nationalism I guess.

In fact, what ends up happening is I do end up rooting for American fighters... because they have no nationalistic support. I get annoyed reading forums and talking to fans of fighters with really strong home support. They are ****** and biased as hell and they make me turn on their fighter. I end up rooting for Americans in matchups against say Brits just by virtue of wanting the Brit to lose to shut their fans up, hah.

I don't know if it's completely true. You see plenty of patriotism from US fans at events like the Olympics, Ryder Cup and US Open tennis.

You're right though, not so much in boxing.

It's not 100% true for the UK either. You'll find most UK fans couldn't give a **** about fighters like Froch or Witter, regardless of who they're fighting.

American boxing support seems to be pretty racially based. Though most of Floyd's obsessive fans are white guys who seem to be vocal in their dislike of white Europeans.

American boxing is also more nationalistic than some people seem to think, after all the hatred of many non-American fighters could be seen as a negative example of nationalism.

When it comes down to it, we have tons of solid fighters. They are lucky to get 10. I mean think about it. Can you name 5 good boxers from the UK or Puerto Rico without having to think about it? If 5 comes easy for you, try 10. There's no way. Now try the United States. I'd be here for an hour just compiling the names of fighetrs I think have a lot of potential to succeed.

I'd say Mexico is the closest to the U.S. in terms of the amount of good fighters they have, but a lot of their guys are adopted one minute and dropped the next depending on whether or not they have other good fighters. For instance, if Margarito loses to Williams, but David Diaz beats Morales, they'll probably adopt Diaz, who as far as I know was born in Illinois.

The UK has so few good fighters they house them all on the same cards several times a year! If we put a few of our best guys on one card, it would cost $155.95 to see it.

It's just not comparable. We have so many guys, you can't be a fan of them all whereas other countries rally behind their guys no matter what they are like just because they are actually their guys. There's tons of American boxers I don't like, but the British and Puerto Rican fans love ALL their guys just because they share the same nationality.

Imagine if I loved Tyson just because he was an American. Crazy.
