My MID-YEAR AWARDS as of now

FIGHTER OF THE MID-YEAR: FLOYD MAYWEATHER

-Obviously. He won the biggest fight of the last decade or so in very convincing fashion. Whoever calls the decision controversial is a moron.

TRAINER OF THE MID-YEAR: FREDDIE ROACH

-Even thought De La Hoya didn't beat Mayweather, and Bobby Pacquiao wasn't able to pull of the miraculous upset against Soto, he was able to present a much better version of both fighters then was expected.

FIGHT OF THE MID-YEAR: MORMECK vs BELL II

-I had to go with this one. Its just to good a slugfest for the first 8 rounds to resist. And as great a year as its been so far, every great fight has been marred by a poor ending or unsettling controversy. VAZQUEZ-MARQUEZ ended with a displeasing quit from VAZQUEZ. MARQUEZ-BARRERA had to much margin on the scorecards. PAVLIK-MIRANDA and FREITAS-DIAZ were both turned into onesided beatdowns towards the end. And even this fight, MORMECK-BELL II, involved a track meet for the final 4 rounds.

WORST FIGHT OF THE MID-YEAR: TAYLOR vs SPINKS

-Easily the worst major fight I've seen in a while. No offense to either fighter, but the style clash was among the worst all year. Or any year for that matter. It ****** all the air out of the entertaining PAVLIK-MIRANDA fight, and out of a PAVLIK-TAYLOR bout later this year.

BEST HEAVYWEIGHT FIGHT OF THE MID-YEAR: SMITH vs DAVIS

-Maybe I'm just blanking on some great Heavyweight fight this year. I think Peter-Toney was in January, but that wasn't as good as this one. And this isnt even that great a fight. Point is, the Heavyweight division lacks any entertainment outsite of Samuel Peter, Lamon Brewster, and the occasion Sultan Ibragimov bout.

PUNCH OF THE MID-YEAR: Take you pick

HATTO-CASTILLO (Obviously, the left hook to the body)

SOTO-TOLEDO (LAST right hand on the LAST knockdown)

MESI-LINDBERGER (LAST right hand of the fight)

KO of the year was already posted by Asian Sensation.

            Ledesma KO5 Stark Jr:

Brutal right cross sends the ****y NY prospect to la la land. That's what you get for fighting with your hands down.

Yeah and it's not even up for debate. Screw definitive statements.

There is no possible way anyone could say otherwise about this fight being FOTY so far. Hopefully Tony/Williams will be exciting but it has an uphill climb if it's going to compare to this fight.

The most exciting fight since Castillo/Corrales I.

Bell is the most exciting fighter in professional boxing right now. I think he takes Arce's title because of his physical size. To see a big man take that kind of punishment and put on a show like that is pretty much unparalleled.

And he's been doing it for ages.

Agreed. Bell is one of a kind, a Corrales at a higher weight where the impact is multiplied several times over. It's incredible.

The funniest thing I have seen in a ring in awhile was when Bell was hit low...he goes and dives on to the canvas like it was the most brutal thing ever in a slapstick type of way. It was priceless.

He's a showman and one of a kind at that weight.

I will pay money to watch Bell fight any day of the week, that's for sure.
