    Jose Luis Castillo tribute thread

It was sad to see Castillo go like that last Saturday. I was there, live in vegas to witness it. Just when you think Castillo is picking it up, he gets dropped. I've been a big fan of Castillo since the first Mayweather fight, and have come to learn he has an exceptional resume. He has a certain vulnerability to him that made him likeable even though he doesn't speak my language. Plus, he has just been tough as hell. There was a time it seemed like no fighter at 135-140 would be able to stand toe-to-toe with him and survive. Now that time has passed. Maybe Castillo will win a title at 147...I really hope he does. More likely, he has starved himself too long and prematurely aged himself by doing so. So, whatever happens, here's to a great fighter and a good man who deserves a cheer.

What are you guys' thoughts on Castillo?

His resume and his fighting skill were second to none. Although being british and happy to see Hatton win, it was a sad sight to see the man dubbed as terrible, crounching on one knee with his gumshield hanging out.

A war with Julio Diaz...one of many bruising fights Castillo engaged in with elite competition at 135.

Castillo lands the biggest short of his career, getting a 4th round KO over Diego Corrales.

Castillo send Casamayor's mouthpiece flying in the 11th round with a vicious uppercut.

In honesty, I had seen JLC fight before, however i was never a great follower. As a Brit, i watched his last fight as a Hatton fan.

But still, i gotta say as an athlete, a professional and a man he is up there as one of the best. A true gentleman - i loved the story in the British press where Hatton was saying that the Castillo kids went into the Hatton dressing room to wish Ricky good luck. Even though they were wearing the football shirts of Ricky's most rival team (Man Utd).

A top guy and top sportsman. A true gent.

Did anyone see Castillo's war with Juan Lazcano? It was on the undercard of DLH-Sturm, and Lazcano was never the same after that fight. Lazcano recently lost to some journeyman type of fighter...when he had fought Castillo, he was one of the elite at 135 lbs.

No tribute needed, hes not dead and he will continue to fight. And he is not terribly old so, hopefully well see him back in the mix

Yeah it was pretty cool too. He was low-key, but dressed sharp.

I don't know...I mean, maybe Castillo will win another belt, but his days as a punisher that we know from two years ago are probably over. I still think he can be good, just not great like he used to be. Hatton is on to bigger and better things now.

                    Who can forget this though?
