    Roy Jones Jr. Steroid Issue...

I think Roy may have been telling the truth about the Ripped Fuel he was taking causing the positive steroid test after the Richard Hall fight. ESPN reported that, "Roy Jones Jr. and Richard Hall both tested positive for the testosterone precursor androstenedione"
The steroid cloud is spreading over a growing number of sports, and boxing is no exception, Kieran Mulvaney writes.

In this article I found at http://www.ringsidereport.com/rsr/pr...N&item_id=1261 it states that Ripped fuel at one point did contain andro. Now I don't know if thats true, but thats what this website said.

And heres what Roy Jones said on the matter...

"GL: Roy, you've yet to speak on this and reports have been made (by Aladdin Freeman and Elisa Harrison, which was then followed up by Scoop Malinowski) that you tested positive for steroids after you fought Richard Hall.

RJJ: All that was, and I'm gonna tell you exactly what they talking bout. There's this thing Ripped Fuel that they sell over the counter. Now they don't allow you to take Ripped Fuel, they asked me what I took and I admitted I did take Ripped Fuel because it was under the guides of GNC. They were trying to say no you can't take that, and I never took that from that point on.

After that, I got together with someone who knows what you can take and can't take, that's why it never happened again. I was like .05, Hall was like way up there from something that might not have been over the counter. Ripped Fuel and 4-WAY (nasal decongestant) that's why that whole thing happened, and matter fact I took two other tests, they came back cool."-www.**********.net

I don't know if this clears things up completley but its all I could find. Whether you choose to believe Roy Jones thats up to you. I figured I'd post this because I notice this story comes up alot so I looked into it...The real question here is did Ripped Fuel contain Andro at one point? If it did then Roy is probably telling the truth. ESPN is a reliable source so I believe it was the steroid Andro both Hall and Jones failed for.

Heres a whole archive on the story from when it first broke...

** Andro ain't a steroid. At the time of the fight Andro was a supplement found on shelves at any health store and sporting goods store in America.

Your beliefs, well, they have no more basis than the tooth fairy, though many fighters including Roy may have used steroids since they were seldom drug tested back then.

No I said I believe that is the steroid that they tested positive for because ESPN said it. I would consider ESPN a legit source, thats I'll I said.

** ESPN is a sports tabloid. Andro ain't a steroid, aspirin ain't amphetamines and Tylenol ain't morphine. End of story

** Think again. Lifting weights juices you with 100% natural testosterone increases. Now why would you want to take a supplement that gives you only 20% improvement?

Look, if you're gonna juice, then JUICE. Don't drink weak insipid tea and call it steroids. That's like taking a paper clip from work and calling yourself a bank robber.
