    For every brain-damaged fighter...

Is there one fight where you can look back and say "That's what happened. This fight is why [insert fighter's name here] is in his current state."?

Just thinking of a few fighters who are pretty bad right now...

Muhammad Ali-The Frazier fights...not sure which one specifically, mostly the accumulation of all 3 fights.

Rid**** Bowe-Andrew Golota punished him pretty bad in their first fight. Bowe's not terrible, but he's definitely slurring his words.

    Meldrick Taylor-Julio Cesar Chavez

Wilfred Benitez-Not really familiar with his career, but I know he's in terrible condition now. Was he ever involved in any wars that led to this condition?

I guess that's all I can really think of right now...Can't think of many fighters who are in really bad shape(That's a good thing I suppose)...what do you guys think? Do most brain-damaged fighters have a single fight that contributed to their condition?

Apart from the obvious (Watson-Eubank, McClellan-Benn), I don't think you can point to one single fight. Infact, sparring is where most of the damage is done with the heavy gloves and cumulative (to get to the top you need to spar almost every day and that's where the damage is done, where you don't recover the damaged brain flesh from hitting the insides of the skull).

      I agree.

      Plus, there's sparring as well.

There wasn't a whole lot of fights in which Terry Norris took a whole deal of punishment to the head, but he was known for intense sparring sessions.

      Now listen to him speak.

Exactly right. For every round you do in an actual fight, you do AT LEAST 10x the number in the gym.

Rid**** Bowe probably has a vagina after getting pounded in the nuts by Golota so many times.

I'm surprised Gatti can still speak.
Morales and Barrera are still very sharp considering their wars.

Micky Ward doesn't sound too good these days.

Tt's nice to get a post which doesn't mention Mayweather or Hatton.

I too am seriously shocked (and thrilled) that Barrera and Morales have yet to show the tell tale signs of brain damage. Their trilogy was the most brutal trilogy I've ever witnessed, I hope they make it out of the sport alright. They've given us everything they had and you can't help but respect that and wish them well.

Jake LaMotta made it out of the sport with most of his faculties intact, so anything is possible.
