Whitaker at least made me laugh at times. Specially when the decision to DLH was announced.

This topic has been beaten to death in one way or another lately hasn't it?

Anyway, anybody saying this would be a boring fight better realize that'd be on Floyd...not Whitaker. Otherwise you better go back and watch some Whitaker fights that aren't the Chavez or De La Hoya fights. Whitaker was hated because he was dominant and people didn't like his antics and fledgling disrespect in the ring...it's not because he had no personality and couldn't give the audience an exciting fight.

Whitaker routinely stood in front of his bigger opponents and made them miss. If Floyd fought Oscar the way Pernell fought Julio Cesar Vazquez, one of the best NATURAL Jr. Middleweights of the last 15 years, he would have gotten laid out. Vazquez was a big, rugged southpaw who was in the prime of his career and Whitaker stood in front of him for a good portion of that fight and traded with him. If Pernell uses his legs and doesn't have such a big ego that fight is a damn shut out. He went toe to toe with Buddy McGirt and stood right in front of guys like Rivera and Hurtado too.

What separates Whitaker from Floyd is opposition...plain and simple. Whitaker fought harder opponents quicker, more often and he largely dominated them until the blow and booze started tearing him down.

Unless Floyd starts doing some special things here he won't reach that level that Pete was on.

floyd is more skilled I think but Pernell was more of a fighter and had a better resume. Floyd outruns Pernell to victory.

If they were to fight both in there prime, I think Sweat Pea would edge him out, Sweat Pea even though he relied on his defense hit harder than Floyd, and could stand in front of his opponent with his hands down and not get hit, Unlike Floyd whos defense is also great but he relies on blocking most of the shots and rolling with shots, there both master defensive fighters but I just think Sweat Pea was a little more special and would edge PBF out.

This is my Dream Bout. I would love to see this. This would be a match that would leave the judges befuddled. I mean do you grade the bout on Sweet Peas defense and ability to avoid punches or reward Floyd for his consistent jabbing and handspeed.

Too bad this wont happen, but probably for the best because the decision would be left to the judges.
