If Hatton could beat Floyd then it would defintley solitify his place in history, however i doubt it will happen Hatton is a Touch N Punch fighter while Floyd is a Punch N Go fighter who is hard to be touched i think Floyds speed and uppercuts would be the end of Hattons claims of being superior to the P4P champ!

For the question:
Hatton would and should get respect, even though I would of liked it before/a couple of years ago. Mayweather for some reason is not fighting at the same level he once was. Maybe it is because he is more cautious or maybe it is because he is getting a bit older. He just does not throw the same amount of punches and hangs on the ropes to much.Last edited by Benny Leonard; 06-25-2007, 03:57 PM.

If Hatton fought Mayweather in 12 weeks time and beat him then the claim would be that Hatton knew he could never beat Floyd in his prime and had to wait until he retired...

If he were to beat Floyd I'm sure Mayweather fans would give him props, I know I would. However, we would be pissed at the double standard - Hatton fans overrate every victory of his, so they would use the fact that he beat the #1 P4P fighter to justify Hatton's greatness. The double standard occurs when you realize that almost all these Hatton fans say Floyd ain't ****. They talk badly about Floyd now, but if Hatton were to beat him they would talk about how great Hatton is because he beat a great fighter in Floyd, a fighter whose greatness they did not acknowledge before.

You'd have to be crazy not to recognise Floyd's talent, but I think you also have to question where his career is going right now. Floyd is the best boxer pound for pound right now and very few people would argue with that conclusion, but it's one thing to be a great fighter and quite another to proclaim yourself the all time greatest every time someone with a microphone or a camera passes by.
Mayweather has managed to avoid the toughest challenges in the last few years but he's still the best out there.

The question is, would the Floyd fans who believe PBF is the greatest of all time respect Hatton if he beat PBF? After all, beating the greatest of all time would be quite an achievement...
