I'm not sure what others said but as far as I'm concerned you can only beat the opponent in the ring that night. Nobody had a real problem with this match before the fight so Hatton did everything that he could and had to do. He won impressively and you can't really discredit that. I didn't think Castillo looked at his peak but Hatton probably had something to do with that as much as being "shot." Maybe he could have got up from the body shot but I don't think anybody doubts that the outcome was pretty much determined at that point. Hatton was younger, faster, and simply better last night and that is why he won.

Yes, there has been the usual jealousy and hateful discrediting from DiegoFuego and a couple of other hard-core Hatton haters. However, I notice a couple of people who were previously more negative toward him have been better sports about it, and given Hatton some credit.

What your saying is true, BUT the Castillo that fought last night was far removed from the fighter that fought Corrales or Floyd. Hatton could only do what he could to make it look impressive which he did but it came to be true that what we saw in Castillo's last fight before this fight really showed how shot he was.

I am not disagreeing with you but that is the same argument people make about other fighters. My opinion is that if we all think the match is acceptable going in than whatever happens happens. Fighters can't control an opponents' weight or personal issues or being over the hill etc. They can only beat who is there in front of them. Hatton did what he had to do last night. We can speculate all day about how shot Castillo was or wasn't but the bottom line is Hatton won and won impressively. Castillo got his ribs broken by Julio Garcia in sparring for a different fight so perhaps he has shown a weakness to the body before. Anyhow I'm not going to tell you Hatton is the greatest fighter on earth but he definitely is the man at 140. I like him to clean up Harris, Witter, or Malignaggi.

I agree and i'm not trying to discredit Hatton BUT i'm not going to get overly excited by this performance. He did exactly what he had to do. I thought it was a dull fight filled with clinching and is one of the main reasons i'm not a big fan of Hatton. I respect his skill, i'm just not a big fan.

One of the best body shots I've ever seen. I think the precision of the shot, the pain Castillo feels, actually causes Jose to spin around before dropping to one knee.

When the camera focuses on Castillo, you can see him trying to get his breath, but is unable as the gumshield come out.

Cracking sho by Ricky. Don't care how good a fighter is, how experienced they are etc, if they caught with a solid shot to the body in the correct place, they'll go. Simple as that.

You don't come to a SUPER MEGA FIGHT and not train, Castillo wasn't terrible Hatton was just great. Watch Hatton vs Oliveira to see how 'ruthless' and how he literally 'breaks' a man down.

Two Hatton shots to the body hurt and slowed Castillo before the most devastating blow....

Ray Mercer trained for his fight too, but was just flat out not the fighter he once was. Same with Castillo. I'm sure he worked his ass off for the fight, but when your abilities start to fade there isn't much you can do to bring them back.
