truth be told, I got a little annoyed at the chants, but overall they were great. Loved how they listened to the post fight interview and didnt flee like most fans.

The reason for this difference between the UK and US fans is obvious though. The UK fans really rally around Brit fighters just because they are British. Look at Calzaghe and Hamed. They don't need to beat other good fighters to be treated like an all time great, they just have to be thought of highly enough and be British. Hatton's following is especially huge right now though because he is both British and has actually beaten good fighters. The US fans on the other hand have never identified with an athlete for being American. This country has just never thought in those terms when it comes to athletes. It has never cared about international competition. All the competition has been internal historically.Comment

Thats definitely true, besides Joe Louis/Schmelling. I feel like Americans have always yearned to get behind guys like De La Hoya and PBF nationalistically, but its been rough because not only do neither guys fight many foreign fighters these days in big matchups, De La Hoya still sports the mexican flag and PBF is a huge douche unfitting of the red, white, and blue.Comment

.....thats a unfair thing to say seeing as how he represented this country well in the olympics. Even someone like Vargas, who as a pro i have never liked, i have the utmost respect for representing this place in the olympics. Its hard as hell to get there let alone Medal like mayweather did. To say hes unfitting of our countries flag is unfair, he was born here, raised here, fought here and represented us on the world stage.Comment

I liked the English fans tonight. It's good to here fight fans like that. Some fights in the US have good crowds like the Zab/Cotto fight in Madison Square Garden, but not all fights are like that. The crowd made the atmosphere tonight in Las Vegas great. I just wish Castillo could have put a better showing.Comment

I generally do believe the English fans are the most passionate in the world when it comes to boxing. I can't think of any other nation that will follow fighters half way around the world the way we do it.Comment

Mexico and Puerto Rico have better boxing fans. They have the whole boxing culture that makes boxers front page stars and mega superstars in there respective countries.
In those countries boxing is not a secondary sport the way it is in US, UK...etc. Its a main stream sport. Boxing fans from those countries are very knowledgable too. Even my grandmother knows who the top PR fighters are and what there respective style are.Comment
