I live in upstate NY so I'm about as far away from Mexico as possible in the US (it'd take like 35 hours to drive there) so I might not be an expert, but I don't think Castillo was ever really a Mexican star. I'd even venture to guess that he was more popular in the US than in Mexico. I've never seen him get the same treatment as a Barrera or a Chavez, not even close. I don't think they care for whatever reason. I always thought Castillo was Cuban anyway. I didn't even realize he was Mexican until tonight.
