    JD Chapman fights tonight

Tonight American heavyweight JD Chapman faces Jeff Yeoman. Chapman is already 26-0, but his resume does not include any top 100 rated heavyweights. Yeoman has lost five of his last seven fights...

Can a promising young heavyweight like Chapman improve if he only fights limited opposition?

I got to meet JD after he fought here in Tulsa a while back. He seemed like a competent figher, with good size and athletic ability.

Punching power is hard to gauge since he's fighting Meter readers and dock workers.

If his fundamentals and technique keep growing and he faces some decent competition...I dont see why he couldnt make a decent run.

    I mean...John Ruiz did it.

I seen some of his fights and I think as soon as he steps up to fight someone in the top 20 hes going to get blasted

I think he has (or had) some potential but I think he should have moved up to fight some better opponents by now - I'm not necessarily talking about top 50 heavyweights, but the heavyweights ranked between 50 and 200 by BoxRec. Both Arreola and Chambers, as well as Platov and Dimitrenko - the latter two the same age as JD - have been fighting much better opponents. Chapman cannot improve unless he is tested a little - his management is overly concerned about his "0".
