    Best Trainers in Boxing Today

I recently read an interview with Roger Mayweather. He was sharing his sentiments on trainers, what makes them remarkable or not and why many classified as "legendary" are definitely not.

Who would you all classify as a legendary boxing trainer and for what reason?

Freddie Roach, if you listen to freddie roach. You're not going to lose the fight. You do what he tells you to do, and you should win.

Angelo Dundee was a great trainer. Teddy Atlas is good despite his dramatics.

A good trainer is a guy who's able to see the strenghts of a boxer and build on that, while finding ways to nullify his weaknesses.
If a trainer makes good fighters regularly, he's a good trainer.

It is important for fighters to realize that they themself have the responsibility to find a trainer who knows how to build on their strenghts.
As with all people, trainers have preferrences, and will train you the way he wants you to be. If he doesn't, he's a great trainer.

He als stated that Roache was not a great trainer either and that Roache abandoned some of his up and coming fighters to take on DLH. He (Roger) said that no good trainer would leave an up and coming and neglect his responsibility, stating the mark of a great trainer is to take raw talent and make a champion, not get a seasoned fighter and take responsibility when he becomes a champ. (Dundee, Atlas)

I don't know about that. Dundee and Atlas are guys who can take good fighters and add a lot to them. Just the little tips and **** that will help you out. Who else does Roger train?

I read it. Some of his comments could be thrown back at him. While I do think he is a good trainer you could say the same that Floyd would still win regardless of whether or not Roger was in the corner.
