I think it was more to do with being too clumsy (due to being too muscled) to finish fighters, because he still actually went in for the finish all the time, but just couldn't steady himself properly!

Also, Eubank and Hearn had plans after the first Watson fight that excluded Watson (Benn, Hearns and Toney), whereas after Watson II Eubank basically admitted he was picking the easy options and just trodding along.

eubank robbed many fighters, calzaghes closest fight was against robin reid.
the fact that joe doesnt rely on gift decisions puts him up above no stamina eubank in my opinion

I think Eubank was the better fighter at his peak. Many of my views align with what majestic has said in this very thread. His reign as a champion saw him fight more impressive fighters, and I also tend to think that he was a bit gun shy after retiring Michael Watson in their fantastic second bout.

Very limited, eubank was on another level skills wise, fought way better fighters, stopped a prime nigel benn, stopped michael Watson.

Seriously eubanks prime was at 160 and at that weight he was world class.

And Calzaghe is world-class at a heavier weight.

Cos he was one of the best finishers I've seen before he got too muscled, there would be 10-12+ proper punches (not slaps) landed in five or six seconds and all pin-point accurately and clean, and not only that but it was killer instinct - he knew instantly when the man was hurt or when it was too risky to let go, and he'd be like a cobra before unleashing when the time was right. Against Benn and Stretch it was messier, but still got them out of there. He looked abit frightening when he opened up on Stretch at the end, esp from one camera angle where you see all his back muscles cramb up and **** - he was in mid-air halfway through the flurry.

Which also is one of the worst divisions in boxing, not his fault,

But anways Eubank was far more skilled, seriously, fought better fighters, beat better fighters.

Yet Calzaghe would still beat him more often than not.

No disrespect to Eubank though, being able to win 30% of fights against Calzaghe is something that not many other people around his weight range could say.

I don't think he'd win 3% of fights against Calzaghe. Calzaghe just too busy

It's strange because Eubank when he did fight Calzaghe seemed to be busier than ever and with better stamina than ever, but then again he wasn't as muscled for some reason
