    Curtis Stevens

It was tough to watch the Dirrell fight, and not only because of the inaction of Andre. Stevens' last few fights have been against boxers and movers, and the truth of the matter is that I'm not sure any kind of preparation would've enabled him to beat Dirrell.

Dirrell is too big, rather he's just a real super middleweight. Stevens is really a junior middleweight with baby fat. I knew from the Carl Daniels and Darnell Boone fights that there was no way Stevens would be able to deal with lateral movement. He doesn't move his upper body and walks straight in. He doesn't even cut off the ring. If he wants to get serious about the sport, he needs to cut some weight and become a real junior middleweight.

I think Stevens and Codrington have the same strengths and faults. They both hit HARD, and are finishers. But they both do not do well when the opponent moves or hits back hard.

Hey how did you get into the buisness of boxing? because you look like you have so much fun meeting all those pro fighters in your sig. Your one lucky guy.

I think he's just too inexperienced. He didn't know how to cut off the ring, or how to trap Dirrell in a corner or against the ropes and keep him from getting away or tying up. One of the fighters that always excelled at these things was (and I hate to say it, because I really don't like the guy) Tyson. He was better at slipping down low and moving inside quick to unload a fast combination on target than anyone I can remember. And you just couldn't run from the guy, either. He'd cut you off and trap your ass against the ropes or in a corner in about 5 seconds, and keep you running until you were either too tired to run, or made a mistake and got caught. It took a long time for someone to realize that you want to fight fire with fire, with Tyson.

Anyway, Stevens should spend about 4 hours a day watching Tyson fights, and then 4 hours practicing his moves, for about a month. Learn from the best, I always say.

Yuri Foreman was exposed in his last fight, and you still make excuses for that phony.

I care nothing for the chin checkers.

I called the Codrington / Green fight - Winner, Round, and Method

But I would pay to watch BOTH of them fight before I would watch Dirrell fight again on free TV.

Even the Metrosexual Paulie Mags stands and fights sometimes.

Even when he doesnt he is still at least THINKING about hitting his opponent.

Winning at all costs is killing this sport.

No one will watch anything that the participant is only in it NOT to lose, and thinks nothing of the fans who pay his bills.

I would rather watch a fighter lose, than a pampered track start win. Anyday.

stevens corner should've given him some different instructions when dirrell was being a track star. cutting off the ring wasn't going to do it, dirrell was running way to much to cut off the ring, no matter what he did dirrell was going to run, run and run, hit and run, there was no way of making him stand and fight.

there was only one way to make dirrell fight, from what i could see, and stevens corner didn't tell him what or how to do it......

if i was stevens trainer, after seeing how dirrell was going to run like a chicken, i would have told stevens when the bell rings for the round you stay in this corner and don't come out, you call in dirrell and make him fight, you make him come forward and press the action. either you fight backing up and make dirrell commit his bodyweight to form an attack or you stay in the corner and make him come to you, don't chase him around the ring, because even cutting off the ring would still lead to chasing him the other way.
the crowd wouldn't get bent out of shape if he did that because they obviously know who was pressing the action and who was running, now if stevens were to stand in the corner and invite dirrell in, and dirrell was doing the same thing avoiding the fight, it would make dirrell look like a sap if he didn't come forward by stevens standing in one place inviting him in to fight on the inside.
all stevens corner had to do was tell him to stay put and make dirrell come forward which would stop his running. and it would in turn get dirrell into stevens range, and if it didn't it would make dirrell look even worse if he didn't come in and try and make a fight of it.
other than that there wasn't **** stevens or anyone could've done against dirrell, he was running like no one i've ever seen run in a fight, i thought malignaggi was a runner, he made paulie look like jake lamotta and aaron pryor
                    combined.

dirrell has a crap style, it's not anything anyone wants to see, even people who like defense and boxing movement. like i said before, even if dirrell is 100-0, nobody would want to watch him fight like that, and no networks would pick him up. as of right now dirrell's fight style = career suicide..........
stevens just needs to be matched better because that fight wasn't anything he should've been involved with.
