  • What is the status of Floyd's belts? Is he 147 or 154 champion?

Ring Magazine, which I consider the authority on who is "the champion" says that Floyd is the current 147 champion, and simultaneously has PBF ranked #3 at JMW.

What is the deal with Floyd's belts? Is he the 147 champ and/or the 154 champ? Can you simultaneously defend two belts in two different weight classes?

Cory Spinks is listed as the 154 champ, but he just went up to 160 and lost to Taylor. Did he vacate his belt?

I need an education. Do any of you guys know what the REAL deal is? (note: If you don't know what you are talking about, skip this discusion... please).

Yes, you are allowed to hold different belts in different weightclasses for the alotted period of time, before you must defend those belts.

So, Floyd can choose to make the 147 weight limit (easy) and just defend BOTH belts? Of course, PBF would never fight that often, but you are saying that he COULD if he wanted to?

Do you know of any fighter who has chosen to defend two belts? Just wondering.

Could Roy Jones have chosen to defend the HVYWT belt that he won from John Ruiz as well as the LHW belt?

henry armstrong was undisputed featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight champ all at the same time in 1937 - 38, and he defended them all. and he should have won the middleweight title

                Thanks, guys, for the knowledge.

That is something that I have been wondering since the Oscar fight. And then I saw the Ring rankings today.

I remember that Leonard fought Lelonde, and there were two titles at stake, the WBC light heavyweight title and the vacant WBC super middleweight title. I think the WBC supermiddleweight title had just been created.

Let me ask a related topic: When does Floyd's P4P status dissolve? He is retired right, and the P4P title is for active boxers...
