Super Middleweight has a LOT of Talented Fighters!

Super middleweight has become one of the most talent laden divisions in boxing. Last night we saw Lucian Bute win a wide UD over Sakio Bika.

Bute is one of several very talented fighters in this division. Of course we have Calzaghe and Kessler, but we also have Inkin, Froch, and Berrio. And of course there's Mundine and Lacy, and Edison Miranda's next fight will likely be at super middleweight. And both Taylor and Pavlik are both likely to eventually move up...

There's a LOT of potentially exciting matchups in this weight division, such as Kessler vs. Miranda, Bute vs. Mundine or Froch vs. Lacy.

Yes Joe has dominated the division for so long and stayed in the division long enough for the new generation of fighters to eventually come through.

Also Joe Calzaghe, Mikkel Kessler, Denis Inkin, Carl Froch, Lucian Bute, Kelly Pavlik and Jermain Taylor all have something in common. They are ALL UNDEFEATED. Someones 0 will have to GO.

There's Calzaghe, Froch and Kessler. None of the others are particularly, particularly good.

Calzaghe will be retired next year, and Kessler has talked about LHW after the Calzaghe fight W or L.

It's not a patch on Eubank, Watson, Benn, Nunn, Toney, Jones Jr, McClellan, Littles, Liles, Lindell Holmes etc.

No, the others I mentioned especially Inkin and Bute are very talented. And so are Miranda, Lacy (despite that one loss), Mundine, Berrio, Taylor and Pavlik. I don't know how you could think they're not talented!

Froch is pretty much behind everybody. By fighting Bika, Bute is #3 smw, and Froch is a guy that doesn't -yet- matter to anybody outside GB.

Has Kessler said anything about LHW? He has said he would consider moving up to fase the right opponent. But he's a natural SMW.

When and where was that pic from in your avatar?

Froch will be the top super-middleweight in under a year, one way or another without doubt.
