Whittaker: Zab Moved the Wrong Way?

In FNF Pernell was saying that Judah was moving the wrong way the entire fight to his left when he should've been moving to his right.

Is that the right advice considering that exposes him more to Cotto's left? I thought it was smart to move to his left with Cotto's left being his favored hand.

    Is Whittaker right?

Yes he's right and I cant believe that no one has ever said this before. If I had watched it then I wouldve said the same thing. Its the exact same thing people said about Spinks in the Taylor fight. Lefties should always move to there right. Sure Cotto has a great right hand but your still moving right into the path of a big right and its harder to throw your power left when your moving to the left. If he goes to his left then its easy for a power puncher to cut off the ring and land big shots on you but if you go to your right then they almost have to follow you. Sure Cotto could land his left hooks to the body but that would also leave him open for straight left counters all night. If you watch Sweet Pea then you would see that he always went to his right. From that position, if they tried to jump your right side then they would be in a bad spot and you would always be in position to land big shots. Thats the main reason why its frustrating to fight a lefty. If he's going to his left then he's taking away all his own advantages

Idk if it was just me but i dont remember much lateral movement in the fight at all. lol

He would circle him but when he jabbed hed go straight in and out and when Cotto would throw it would just be wild winging shots, and it was almost always when he had Judah against the ropes or in a corner.

i dont think it mattered at all which direction he was moving in, the result would have been the same.

But i guess he was right, i just dont see how it would effect the fight. Ill rewatch it on saturday

Yeah, I agree that it probally wouldnt have made much of a differnce. I would like to see Sweet Pea train him for 1 fight though

Yes, it was something my father pointed out to me during the fight, as i was about tlose my 70 dollars, i saw it as well, not to mention zab began to make himself a target after round 4 by standing in one place. however zab was out of gas by round 4, so it really didint matter.
