Most people seem to downgrade Gatti nowadays, but he really has accomplished a lot.

-Two weight class world champion. (130lbs and 140 lbs I believe)
-Been ranked in the top ten in 4 different weight classes
-Beaten some very good opponents in his career

He has done some notable things in his career, other than give us a ****load of outstanding fights...people might think that Gatti was crap at 147 too, but he beat Thomas Damgaard, who I remember being rated number 3 by ring magazine at one time, and was the #2 guy at one point behind Hatton.

Hes one of those almost, but simply not good enough fighters. He doesnt belong in the Hall of Fame...but he actually is just on the borderline. Kind of like Vargas...Vargas was one of the youngest champions, had a very good career, but when it gets down to it, he got beat by the better fighters, even if all 3 of them or easily Hall of Fame fighters (Trinidad, Mosley Oscar). Gatti is similiar.

Gatti was a good fighter in his prime but his only big win was against Ruelas. Everytime he stepped up in competition he was brutalized. He did have heart but so what other fighters have the same heart and find ways to win. Is he worthy of hall of fame status, I don't think so. However, if Barry Mcguian who was champion for 1 year got elected then there is hope for Arturo Gatti.

extremely good post, By the way a better than c level figher does not lose to c minus level fighters like Robinson and Manfredy, then lose to other ordinary fighters like Mickey Ward and make a sorry guy with no skills like Ward into a star just for being in a war with Gatti. Gatti sucks, hes definately not a top 15 or 20 even in his prime
