I like Morales, but this promotion is a sham

Seriously...they're calling his bout against David Diaz "The War for 4," claiming that if Morales wins the WBC belt, he is the 1st Mexican to win titles in 4 weight classes. The problem with that is David Diaz shouldn't even be the WBC Champion. He would have never beaten Casamayor, and Casamayor should have never been stripped of the belt to begin with.

Diaz basically became the WBC interim champ by rallying to beat Santa Cruz in an exciting fight. Casamayor then had to fight him but entered in negotiations to figth Freitas...a fight that never made it far in negotiations. Before Casamayor knew it, he was stripped of the WBC title and it was given to Diaz.

I just think that whole mess is absurd. Casamayor is the champ at 135, and Diaz shouldn't even be a beltholder because he's done nothing to get there. I'm sure Casamayor would have fought Diaz had he been able to after the Freitas fight fell through.

With that said, best of luck to Morales. I'd love to see him go out with a win if this is his last time out. But if he wins and looks impressive, even better, because he could be fighting Juan Diaz or Casamayor within the next year. That would be amazing to say the least.

I agree, but let's see how he does against David Diaz in August before we count El Terrible out. He could pull a Hopkins and put on one of the best performances of his career at his highest weight yet. My only fear is Morales can't punch at lightweight, so, yeah, I think Juan would gobble him up. We'll have a better idea after August.

As much as I appreciate all El Terrible has done, I don't see him even beating David Diaz at this point. I don't think we'll have to worry about the validity of the reigns.

Your right. It sucks because this is how boxing works now a days. David Diaz doesn't deserve the belt and if El Terrible wins it will be tainted, but I would like to see Erik go out on a good note.
