    Ali's hand speed

I was just wondering has there been any other heavyweight after Ali that could punch just as or faster than him? I would say Roy Jones but I mean someone who started out as heavyweight? Im tyring to think but nothing comes to mind. Can some of yall educate me on that matter just in case i missed something.

Tyson for one. Not the same style but he was faster in his prime. He was welterweight fast!

Yeah thats a good point. I guess I was thinking about the style also. I have a DVD of some of Tysons old fights and he was fast.

Tyson was ridiculous. I'm not a big Tyson fan but his speed was undeniable. As for true heavyweights there hasn't been any as great since Ali. He was the greatest (heavyweight). I don't think you can really compare Ali to any modern guys.

Tyson's handspeed was never near Ali. Tyson's punches were shorter, and seemed faster than they actually were. He nearly always punched from inside (obviously, because of his height and reach) and was very good at it. His biggest asset, really, was his unique ability to get inside quick, and unload a combination of wickedmother****ingaccurate punches exactly where they needed to go. He wasn't even exactly a devastating puncher, as far as power goes. He could **** pretty good, sure, but many heavyweights hit much harder....he was just highly skilled at putting that power exactly where it needed to go.

Anyway, like I said...no, not even close. Ali was scary fast-handed. I've seen other heavyweights able to throw a single punch as fast, but none ever that could throw combinations like he could, so quick that it just overwhelmed his opponent at times.

Tyson had very good handspeed...but, come on, Ali/Cassius Clay was like lightning. Tyson had those very quick, short burst where he could throw three or four lightning bolts...Ali could do that with ten and twelve shots in a bunch. That's a BIG differnce. Tyson was real fast from a short distance...Ali could hit you with laser beams from a much longer distance

Floyd Patterson had the fastest hands in heavyweight history, according to Cus and Tyson

                    Cus should know.

But Patterson throwed more or less short punches like Tyson, didn't he?
