    Im curious

I never really understood it. I just don't understand why PBF has ANY fans.

So please, educate me. I really can't stand disliking a fighter, especially one so high up on the P4P list. Exactly what is it he does that's enjoyable? Do you have to go back a few years? Was it that he used to be entertaining, then moved up in weight and had to abandon all of his skills and potential? Is there something he's doing, that's amazing or unbelievable that I'm somehow missing? Is his ability to bore his opponent impressive?

I think maybe I'd like him more if people stopped comparing him to boxers who are obviously superior in every way (whitaker comes to mind).

I'm quite serious, I need to know, just incase he comes back. That way I'll properly be able to enjoy it next time around. Youtube clips or pics would be helpful.

It seems most people only remember Floyd's last 2 fights where he pot shotted his way to victory but they forget that before that he had like 6 straight exciting fights. In 4 of those fights he stalked his opponent and flat out walked them down. In the other 2 he mixed it up but he threw punches in all of them. In that span he had 4 KO's and the other 2 were Zab & Chop which were both exciting fights and were both near KO's also.

Maybe the guy is enjoybale to watch because he is flat out by far the most complete fighter in the game. There is nothing that Floyd cant do and he does it well. He's pretty much the only un flawed fighter out there. If someone believes that a guy like Cotto would beat him then its a joke. This guy gets hit all the time, has been rocked in so many fights, doesnt have great speed, and is solid but not great at cutting the ring off and he's going to beat Floyd? Its a joke.

You dont know what your talking about if you say that he's not comparable to Sweet Pea. I want to ask you what have you been watching if you cant acknowledge his greatness?

here's something that you can do, buy his career set if you don't already have it, and then criticize him.

his ability to bore his oppoents? i'm not sure what you mean. if beating his opponents is boring them, then ****, i got into boxing for the wrong reasons.

if all it took for people to start liking him was for other people, including the so called "boxing" experts then maybe the people who hate him should crticize the other people who compare him to past greats and not him, huh?

seeing how you posted youtube clips and such, shows me that you haven't watched every fight he was in, so on this note, this thread dies. r.i.p.

I'm just asking. I genuinely don't get the view of PBF fans, and would like to be able to enjoy him like the rest of you. This isn't to be a prick. This isn't done as a floyd hate thread. This is me, trying to understand something most don't bother to understand.

Are there eny fights where he actually works for a KO? All I can seem to find him fighting are opponents where he runs(think castillo), or opponents that are punching bags (think gatti). Was he more amazing back at 135? I only started watching after Castillo I. Was he a better fighter before that fight?

What is the quintessential PBF fight? The fight you point to and say, "SEE, he really IS the second coming of pernell whitaker. He really IS the real deal, and not a cowardly runner." The most memorable fight, or the fight that you feel PBF should be remembered by. I'm curious, and it would probably help.

Who's talking about cotto? I thought we were talking PBF, lol.

Pernell was probably my favorite fighter ever. That's probably why I tend to lose my head when people dare to make the comparison. To suggest his defensive skills are akin to pernell....hell, why not start saying he has the punching power of rocky marciano, or mayorga's chin while we're at it. From what I've seen, it's not a fair comparison, at ALL.

Whether it hurts you or not, it doesn't change the fact that Mayweather is among the top 10 greatest fighters of all time. I don't care if you think he's boring for beating up junior middleweights with potshots or not.

I don't remember anyone calling Roy Jones boring for beating up John Ruiz. Mayweather vs. De La Hoya was 10x better than that joke of a fight.

Inconsistency. It all goes back to Floyd running his mouth and making everybody shed some tears.

No one called Roy boring? Then I will. ****, john ruiz is boring as hell too. So that's like, boring squared. Wow, I was really hoping that all ruiz fights would be burned to ashes after he lost his belt. Thanks for dredging op THAT borefest. :P

I'm not arguing on PBFs talkent or skill, or where he belongs in the greatest of all time. (I disagree, based on the ease which I can name 10 GREATER fighters. Did you mean best? How good a fighters skills are has nothing to to with said fighters greatness.)

I just wan't to know what his best fights were. Give me a fight that showcases his boxing ability, where his opponent wasn't a punching bag, but he found/made the openings and KHTFO.

Pehaps this is why PBF fans and haters can't seem to get along, but keep on talking about PBF. Fans seem to already feel that PBF is awesome, and haters feel that he's not awesome YET. And, since he's retiring, PBF will never become that amazing fighter the haters secretly want him to become.

Mayweather is NOT in the top ten greatest fighters of all time. His level of competition does not even compare with the guys in the top ten.

You can't blame him for his competiton. Some people have turned down fights and also there are no other fighters in this era besides him who would belong in a ring and make a competitive fight with the likes of Sugar Ray Leonard, Tommy Hearns, Roberto Duran, Aaron Pryor, Alexis Aguello and those other very good to great fighters. You can't blame a boxer for the era he was born in. PBF is really just that much better than the people of his era. He is getting the same treatment Larry Holmes got. Where people critize him because of level of fighters around him. Everybody yall say PBF should fight and he winds up actually fighting them he makes them look bad then all of sudden that person wasn't that good to begin with. Thats bull**** the dude is really that much better than these people. Real talk Cotto, Hatton, Margarito back in Hearns, Duran and Sugar Ray Leonard's days wouldn't even mentions as opponents for them, they wouldn't even be ranked in the top 10 if the division and deep down yall know this. For that era I AM NOT SAY PBF WOULD BE RANKED #1 BUT HE WOULD BE IN THE TOP 3-5.

Someone, please point me to a great floyd fight which properly showcases his talent. PLEASE, before the thread gets jacked.
