Will Povetkin be facing Williams instead of Barrett on June 30?

Here and there on the internet today I've been reading that the Alexander Povetkin vs. Monte Barrett matchup has been postponed, and that Povetkin will be facing Danny Williams on June 30 instead!

Source: Michael Marley at ******************, and two threads at ESB are discussing this as if it's true.

    I think it's garbage.

There was a talk of Povetkin facing Danny before they signed the Barrett fight, but I think it is too early for him to go against Williams.

danny williams our british heavyweight champ, the one who took vitali kiltchko's beating and still kept getting up, the one who knocked tyson out and of course the guy who knocked an opponent out with one arm. I hope its true cause i want to see my guy get back in to action and in to title contendorship.

By the way im a williams fan, if anyone didnt notice lol

Yes, it may not be true, although some people believe it is. I prefer Barrett as his opponent right now, but Williams would be a good opponent too. Povetkin would defeat Williams in a tougher fight. According to the conversations about this, Don King has had a hand in this change from Barrett to Williams.

We'll know in a day or so...the Povetkin/Barrett presser was scheduled for today. Did it happen, or was it cancelled?

It would be a good fight. I've heard good things about povetkin and if danny williams is still at 16-17 stone i think it'll be a great fight, one thing though i think williams has to much experience for povetkin and will proberly beat him.

As I said, it is too early for Povetkin to go against someone as good as Williams, especially if motivated Williams shows up.

He still needs to adopt to pro boxing.

I presume his management understands this as well.

BB is right, they've been talking about this fight for a while but it never went anywhere past discussion. That just shows how up to date those other websites are, lol.

I don't think Povetkin should take this fight at such an early stage, Williams is a far more dangerous opponent than barrett.
