Tommy "gunn" is innocent until proven guilty.

This is all hear-say from a bitter ex-manager. Morrison gets his career back and gets a new manager, who wouldnt be sour g****s? Please stop bashing him until we know for sure. I am still a fan...

In 1996, Tommy Morrison was denied a license to box in Nevada when he tested positive for HIV. He was tested twice. The results were checked and rechecked by the most reputable lab in the country and deemed indisputable.

Various publications and Internet sites continue to incorrectly state that Nevada placed Mr. Morrison on indefinite suspension. That is not true. Mr. Morrison was denied a license to box, which meant that at any time he could have applied to another jurisdiction and he could have presented the Nevada commission with updated results. To date, the Nevada commission has received no evidence that its findings were incorrect.

Morrison’s name resurfaced in the news recently, when he said he was resuming his boxing career and that he had been mistakenly diagnosed as HIV positive by the State of Nevada. At that point, I contacted renowned Quest Diagnostics Pathologist, Dr. John Hiatt. Dr. Hiatt has worked with the Nevada commission for many years and was the physician who reviewed Morrison’s original 1996 HIV results. At my request, Dr. Hiatt reviewed the archived results yet again. He says that they are ironclad and unequivocal.

Several months ago, Morrison was granted a license to box in West ******ia after members of the ABC Medical Committee, in conjunction with the local state athletic commission, supposedly determined that he was HIV negative. In late April, Morrison was scheduled to fight again in Texas, but that fight was canceled when blood work was not sent to the Texas commission in a timely manner.

That should have been a “red flag.”

In evaluating a patient, any patient, it helps to review prior test results for comparison. I was astonished that no one from West ******ia called me to inquire about Nevada’s 1996 test results. This is especially odd given that every credible Infectious disease specialist will tell you, “Once HIV positive, always HIV positive.”

On Friday, June 8, the Arizona Republic reported that Tommy Morrison had recently tested positive for HIV. Randy Lang, Morrison’s former agent, told the newspaper that he stopped working with the fighter after the results of his HIV tests were misrepresented.

If Lang’s comments are true, then West ******ia and its experts did not do due diligence to ensure that Morrison’s test results were legitimate.

How many other fighters, ringside personnel, and spectators have been unnecessarily exposed to the blood of an HIV positive individual?

What can we say about a sport that still cannot get its act together to standardize medical testing and form an independent data bank to house that information, and continues to rely on archaic means of receiving and verifying medical tests on fighters.

Mr. Morrison’s situation is one more piece of evidence that boxing needs federal regulation.

I AM NOT BUYING IT>>>>> READ BELOW

decade after he was indefinitely suspended following a positive HIV test on the eve of a 1996 fight in Las Vegas, that day is here. He has been cleared to return to the ring after passing a battery of medical tests.

Morrison was licensed Tuesday by the West ******ia Athletic Commission and will face John Castle of Indianapolis in a four-round bout Thursday night at Mountaineer Race Track in Chester. Castle (4-2, 2 KOs) has been knocked out in his last two fights.

"It's been a long time coming," Morrison told ESPN.com on Tuesday. "I know I didn't have [HIV] in the first place. I never had it. I believe it, but they kicked me out of the sport. ... Over the last two or three months, I have taken five, six different [HIV] tests and continued to pass them. It was just a matter of time before they had to let me fight again."

Although Morrison's bout is not scheduled to be part of the live Versus-televised coverage of the card, the network might show highlights of Morrison's fight.

Morrison received his license in West ******ia after a passing a series of medical tests in Arizona, the results of which were forwarded to West ******ia.

you people are all just like the ****ing promoters. Use these boxers (people) for your entertainment and than when they "age" or whatever you wanna say its good riddance, your dumb, ugly, cant speak right etc...Morrison was a great fighter and does not deserve the treatment he gets on boxingscene. What about magic johnson who had more white blood cells than most "healthy" people. He had the **** for 20 years already. Is it not possible that people "in the know" have access to drugs that normal people dont. If he is knowingly positive and falsifying records than shame on him. You dont think the boxing commish is gonna investigate? All i am saying is people are HANGING the guy already and no one is for sure what the deal is.

            1. I don't know if you realize this but that was his JOB. I didn't use anybody. The only time he entertaining to me is when ray mercer played him like a rock-em-sock-em robot.

            2. That is your opinion. He was a good fighter he was never great.

In closing he's a man he got in the ring and fought for his life. Props. His time is DONE and has been for 10 years. He is not immune. everybody that ages gets thrown to the side for the next generation. That's life man deal. Your going to be one of those old men that always says "things aren't like they used to be, blah blah blah" It's a new day bru, either change with the times or get left behind.
