  • Is Cotto now a top 10 pound for pound fighter in your eyes?

    If so, why?

    If not, why not?

Personally, I can't name 10 better fighters out right now, and it sounds weird because I remember watching him fight as a prospect against Bazan, etc...since then, he's become a freight train, an absolute animal in the ring.

He has all the qualities that make a great champion and a legendary fighter. When was the last time you remember Cotto stop fighting for a round or two? When was the last time you remember him NOT crushing his opponent? Paulie survived because of pride and took a brutal beating. Ndou is just a freak of nature.

When was the last time you saw JUDAH, who many picked to win, take such a brutal beating? He has heart, but think about it. Think about the great fighters he's fought, and think about who has made him go to his knees without having hit him a split second earlier. Not Mayweather. Not Spinks. Not even Tszyu.

Tszyu caught him with a shot that, like the joke says "he was so knocked out he didnt even know he was knocked out". He stood up too fast, and his equilibrium wasn't there. Anyone gets caught with one of those. Judah simply got caught against Tszyu.

Not so with Cotto. Judah got up from his knockdowns KNOWING he had been knocked down. He knew he was mentally beaten, physically beaten, from the look on his face he just knew he had never faced a fighter who took all his confidence away like Cotto did. Seeing his craftiness and power shots have no effect on this pitbull and he just keeps coming at you and there's just nothing you can do but take a knee in the corner and take a breather.

In other words, Judah lost a FIGHT. He didn't get caught, he simply got outworked, outwilled, outmuscled, outfocused, outeverything by the better fighter tonight.

For all his defects, he has the intangibles that make it hard for me to personally bet against him. This guy is a well oiled machine for 12 rounds, there is no retreat in him, there is no spitting out his mouthpiece if he gets hurt, there is no hold on for dear life until your equilibrium is back (though it would be smarter), there's no picking my opponents, putting excuses for not wanting to fight so and so, there's only DEMOLISH WHOEVER IS IN FRONT OF ME AND LET MY PROMOTERS HANDLE THE OTHER BULL****.

The man is all business, from the time the fight is announced, to the time his opponent is on the canvas. He's a fighter.

You could put him top ten. But Judah lost all of those fights period. No excuses just like he lost to Cotto. He seriously tends to fold under pressure. But with the win I think everyone would be happy with a Mosley matchup. That would definitely be a great fight.

I agree, he's a p4p fighter, but your reasons for saying it are all wrong imo.
Judah was 0-2-1 in his last three outings.

He's going to do big things and the fact that he put on such a great show and can actually speak English will make him a PPV super star (bigger than Tito) in the years to come.

I think he definately deserves a pound for pound spot. He has fought some pretty good fighters and he always steps up in his big fights. I would put him around 7.

I would wait until after the Margo or Williams fight and then if he comes thru, yes, consider him top 10 p4p.

No, he isnt top 10 p4p! He hasnt beaten no highly, highly rated guy. Beating Zab isnt going to make him a top 10. Beating Zab, he isnt any closer to being in the top 10. He has potential to be make no mistake.

Agreed, havent seen the fight yet so cant comment on it but i dont care what record Judah had going into this fight, judah is super talented and cotto got the job done, So he deserves credit for that, and he is a two weight unbeaten world champion had has names on his record, i think he should be on the official pound for pound top ten, and yes he needs to fight mosley next, and the winner fights mayweather if mayweather comes back, if floyd comes back, he should fight cotto and or mosley (mabye spinks).

People complain about Mayweather. But I think he is moreso letting things play out. He knows Cotto is a hot name after this win. But a possible win over Mosley/Williams/Margarito would push the envelope in getting that fight done. Cotto was great last night he walked Judah down and was very Hopkins like. He made it a rough and tough fight. When he would continue to **** away at Judah during clinches I could not help but think of a prime Hopkins.
