    Ricky Hatton

Unproven but proven the ODLH of his country yet the Mayweather of ours, the guy deserves alot more respect then his gotten, a majority of the boxing world, or the fans dont seem to understand the guy is making a transition from one major venue in which the support was endless to another in which the build-up continues.

I've always thought Hattons-style was some what dubious and with the constant grabbing and clutching he'd be somewhat of a house-name but for all the wrong reasons. His got alot of potential, but has yet to kin-in on it with the American public watching but i honestly believe the Castillo fight will be the sight of this emergence, and perdict a dominate performance from Hatton!

Castillo to me is about 3-4 yrs removed from his prime and has lost a step in the process, he however does have a chance with his slugger mentality, and if he lives up the warrior like status his been given he can ddefintley make some noise!

Before the Tzsyu fight Hatton was a joy to watch mate, he would very rarely clinch, hold, he got this tactic because he needed it 4 Kostya, was a great gameplan. Urango, Collazo were south paws making it hard for his style, when he going got tuff he would use this tactic, far to much for my liking in the last 2 fights. At his best Hatton, he is one the most exciting boxers in the world, its just a shame that his fights in the U.S have made him look the opposite. Castillo is otherdox and comes straight at you throwing all the time, this will bring out the best in Hatton, Urango was scared to punch vs Hatton and made a terrible fight.

The Maussa fight was fantastic. It seems that people forget about that one when they're talking about Hatton's "hugging", there was very little holding in the Maussa fight and it was a sensational finish. There was a fair bit of spoiling against Urango in the last three or four rounds but there really wasn't that much holding against Collazo. It seems that Ricky's holding has become more of an idea that people have heard instead of something they have actually seen.

Some people who hate Hatton have grabbed onto his clinching in the late rounds against Urango, and use it to discredit him. Due to a chest infection, Ricky wasn't 100% against the tough young IBF champion Urango, but was still able to win decisively.

Ricky's tactics against Kostya were exactly what he needed. He wasn't so much holding to spoil as using his strengths and turning it into a rough fight because he would lose a boxing match. He won the fight smartly and imposed his will. He then fought Maussa and did so clumsily... But he knocked him spark out with a left hook to the chin, finished sensationally after an early setback having suffered two nasty cuts in the first couple of rounds. He then fought Collazo on short notice and didn't spend the fight holding. He walked onto a couple of clean shots in the last round and clinched to clear his head (which is generally accepted as OK in boxing) and won a closer than expected decision. Finally he fights Urango and fades in the later rounds (which he doesn't normally do) and is advised by his trainer to spil and hold, to ensure that he wins and can go on to the big money fight against Castillo that was already in the books.

Two things to remember about the Urango fight is firstly that Castillo was already signed and sealed so Hatton was looking past Urango, and also that Gatti was to be Ricky's next opponent had he managed to better Baldomir, so Urango was certainly not a preferred opponent.

He didnt even really hold against Kostya. What he did was get so close to him that Kostya couldnt get off his big shots. It was an awkward and clumsy fight, but not the clinch fest that people have decided it was.

The haters know that about Hattons chest infection, but they will never allow that to be taken into consideration.

And i agree he didnt hug against Kostya. He was just a natural fighter doing what he had to do in that fight to be victorious.
