  • Has Cotto ever faced a Southpaw, if so, who and when was the last time?

Reason I asked, is because a southpaw stance could very well be the determining factor as to why ZAB wins and Cotto loses. We've seen it plenty of times, where a fighter w/ conventional stance was overall better than the southpaw, but, they simply could not deal w/ lefties. This fight can also turn out to be a bore as we've seen in many fights when a conventional fighter is facing a lefty. Both guys are chinny, once they feel each others power, they might not be wanting to exchange much, add to that it's a Southpaw vs. Conventional.

    ZAB's strengths and weaknesses....

PROS - FAST, SOUTHPAW, GOOD HEAD & LATERAL MOVEMENT, HAS FOUGHT BETTER OPPOSITION

CONS - Wastes too much energy, chin, mental toughness, stamina, coming off longest inactivity(his last fight on FNF doesn't even count, in my opinion)

    BEST PUNCH - Left straight

    COTTO'S strengths and weaknesses....

PROS - RELAXED, PHYSICALLY STRONG, GOOD POWER, GOOD BODY PUNCHER, RESILIENT, GOOD SPEED, THROWS GOOD COMBOS

    CONS
    - CHIN, HAS PROBLEMS W/ FAST OPPONENTS, BIGGEST QUESTION I HAVE IS, I HOPE THOSE WEIGH - IN PICS ARE DECEIVING, 'CAUSE COTTO LOOKED DRY!! HE DIDN'T LOOK TRIM AND ROCK SOLID IN A WAY PACMAN DOES, MORE OF AN "OVER-TRAINED LOOK"

    BEST PUNCH
    - LEFT HOOK
    __________________________________________________ ______________________________
    SIZE - Judah

PUNCHING POWER - Hmm, this is a tough one, I've seen Judah deck opponents out cold w/ one single punch w/ no follow up. Cotto, looks to me as someone who, when he has ko'd opponents it's after one big punch and the follow-up is what ko's his opponents - Slight edge Cotto, because he has ko'd good, solid opponents, and has staying power.

AGE - I don't think this is much of a factor, it's more of Judah's INactivity.

    QUALITY OF PREV OPPONENT
    - COTTO

WINNING OR LOSING STREAK - COTTO IS UNDEFEATED !!

COMMON OPPONENTS - I'm too lazy to check B*XREC, I don't think they have any

Hmm, my breakdown of these two fighters favors Cotto, I don't understand why the hell am I pickin' Judah(lmao)???

It's probably because of what I saw in the Malignaggi fight, I just hope Judah's mind doesn't wander off in lalaland and keeps his mind on the guy in front of him

Um, Cotto's second to last opponent named Carlos Quintana was a southpaw. We all know how that went. Demarcus Corley was southpaw and didn't do all that well until he landed that behind the ear shot which he couldn't even follow up on. Cotto can fight southpaw if he wants also. He is a natural left hander turned righty. That's why he has such devastating left hook body shots since it's his main hand. Cotto can mix it up to confuse Zab, but who knows. Let's just watch. I'ma be leaving to head out to the Garden with some friends in about an hour. I'll see you guys at the fights!

Was Quintana more of a in your face fighter, how about Corley was he boxer/puncher type? Reason i'm askin', is because, lets say PACMAN, he's not a boxer, so his southpaw stance doesn't confuse people much, he doesn't bother with moving to his right, he just jumps in and drills, whereas, lets say a Sweet Pea is probably the biggest nightmare if you're facing a southpaw, ya know, guys like Corey Spinks, Tarver.....

I agree with everything but that behind the ear comment...that shot was straight 2 cotto's temple. I had an argument about that because after that fight people kept saying how Cotto had no chin. I found it hard 2 comprehend how you could gauge someones chin when they didn't get rocked from a shot 2 it.

Ok well it was awhile since I saw that fight. I just remember it wasn't on the chin. I guess getting hit on the temple could be similar to back of ear since both will mess ur equilibrium up bad. But that isn't the same as getting blasted on the chin as everyone seems to keep talking as if he was.

It didn't? From what I remember, Corley landed a nice clean shot which rocked Cotto, but being the warrior he is, he came back and brutally clobbered Corley.

Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong fight, or maybe you think if a fighter gets hurt at all in a fight, then he did bad.

The last 3 fighters he's faced were southpaws. And I have no idea of how your rating or making a predictions having not known that.
