This move has come far too late, Jirov has lost alot of brain cells chasing the HW money.

He never had the kind of style to go to HW, he got hit with everything, he wasnt necessarily a big puncher either...he was a real fun crusier too watch though.

Pre-Toney there were talks of Jirov vs. and undefeated Jones Jr.

Jirov would have wore down Jones and stopped him! (Whoever fought a prime Jirov was not in for an easy night if you wanted to beat him at his physcial peak you would need to go thru hell to do it, just ask James Toney)

I'm not even sure Jirov would have needed to tire Jones out. We later saw that once someone can actually hit Roy he will go down, as great as he was, and Jirov would have hit him quite a bit. Don't get me wrong, Ruiz AND Jones are/were both better fighters than Jirov, but stylistically Jirov would had a good shot against Roy I think, especially a Roy that couldn't move quite as well as he was used to.

Good post minus the Ruiz being better part I can't see that. Jirov was maybe too in love with bodyshots and it got in the way of defense. Remember he was a Val Barker winner at the Olympics and was a great boxer who just stopped using it. Ruiz isn't in that class I don't believe.
