  • The Real On Floyd's Resume!

Its a long 2 part article but its worth it!

How come when Floyd calls out guys for fights, no one cares but when he moves on and they then call him out then everyone goes crazy about it and talks about who Floyd didnt fight?Lets examine the facts.

At 130 Floyd was begging for a fight with Naz when he was on top of the world but the Prince ducked him. Even Merchant admitted it after the Chico fight. At 135 it was a known fact that Floyd offered a prime Juan Lazcano a fight and he turned it down, he also offered a prime Freitas a fight and he also turned it down. At 140 everyone knew that Floyd offered Hatton a couple of fights and he turned it down. Hatton even admits this and always says "later". Now he knows Floyd has moved on or retired and now here comes Hatton talking **** because he knows that he can look good because alot of media and fans are dumb and biased against Floyd.

Floyd had to go through hell to even get a Gatti fight. He only got that because Gatti was basically forced to face him. Everyone knows that Arum wouldnt let Cotto anywhere near Floyd. Floyd wouldve took that fight in a heartbeat and only a hater wouldnt admit that. At 147 he called out Mosley and Shane admittedly turned it down. No one cared but now that Floyd already said he would retire then everyone tries to call Floyd a chump. Then you come to Oscar. Floyd tried forever to get that fight. If Oscar never accepted then Floyd still wouldnt have even had that fight and he wouldve got ripped for it. When Mosley was fighting Vargas, Floyd said that he would be interested in the winner. Vargas people then came out and said that even if they win they wouldnt be interested in a Floyd fight.

I dont understand how Floyd has tried hard to get fights, yet guys turn him down and somehow Floyd ends up as the chump? It makes no sense. Then comes a hero like Margarito. A guy who no one ever cared about. He called Floyd out and it was no big deal because guys do that to Floyd all the time. It actually was sad because at the time Margarito was at 147 coming into the ring as a Middleweight and Floyd was still at 135. Floyd moves up to 147 and no one still cares but as soon as Floyd turned it down then everyone comes out the wood works. Why? They came out because Floyd was ranked #1, so many people hated him, and they knew that so many other top fighters who they love have turned him down. So now Margarito says yes and then everyone has a hero to back. Then like idiots they let Arum boost him up to be God. Then there were a ton of articles saying that Floyd is scared of him. They only wrote that crap because they knew that Floyd had already turned him down. If Floyd wouldve accepted that fight from the jump then it wouldnt even had been a big deal. It wouldve just been a solid Floyd fight that everyone knew he would win. Its that Floyd turned him down that turned him into a legend.

    PART 2

Floyd's scared of a Margarito who hadnt fought any good fighter, has losses on his resume to bums, and had just got beat by a sorry as Santos at 154? Floyd's scared of that guy but at the same time is trying to fight guys like Shane & Oscar at 154 when Floyd clearly didnt belong there? Then the Clottey fight came and now its like no one talks about Margarito anymore. Where's all his hype at now? That guy was going to beat Floyd? Floyd beats Oscar at when he clearly didnt belong there and Margarito cant even beat Sanots but Margarito can beat Floyd? Someone please explain that to me. I dont know why so many people even made a big deal out of Margarito calling him out. He only called him out because he knew that he was the bigger guy, Floyd was the #1 guy, Floyd brought the big money, and Margarito wasnt a big name. If Margarito had money, fame, or was rated high like the other guys I named then he probally would turn down some fights also but he's not in position to do that. He has to take those big fights because its the only way he gets money or any exposure. He's know different then a regular fighter in that respect.

Ive also said this before but Ill say it again. Go back to what I wrote up top about the guys who avoided Floyd. If he had those guys then what would you say? How come he doest get any credit for trying to get those fights? If it was anyone else you guys would be talking about how he's the most avoided guy. Lets say that Floyd went the Hopkins, Tszyu, Calzaghe route who all of you sweat. Lets say Floyd never moved up. He didnt have to because he's a little guy. What if Floyd was still at 130 or 135? Who wouldve beat him? He wouldve owned little guys like MAB, EM, JMM, Pac, Diaz, Guzman, and whoever. Then you guys would be saying he has the best resume in history. None of those guys wouldve came close to him. He didnt want to stay and beat up little guys. He could easily fight at 135 right now and you know it. Instead he's at 154 fighting guys like Oscar who's a legend & weighing 168 and still winning. How impressive is that? Its not like Oscar's a bum. He just KTFO of Mayorga, yet a little guy like Floyd beats him when he could be fighting at 135. Its even more crazy because guys like Chico, Castillo, and so on were way bigger when they fought Floyd and now Floyd is fighting at weight classes way bigger then them when anyone will tell you that there still way bigger then Floyd.

I also look at the Zab Judah fight. I said this in another thread. Zab had a huge impact on Floyd's career. Think about Zab after the Spinks KO win. Everyone loved him, had him rated high, had him as the most exciting fighter out there, and everyone wanted to see him vs Floyd. It was a match made in heaven and there were a ton of articles about it. Floyd and Zab then made the fight before the Baldy fight. What if Zab cleans Baldy's clock like he was supposed to? That fight wouldve been so big and so hyped. Floyd wouldve got a ton of credit for taking that fight. More the likely the fight wouldve still went the same exact way. If that wouldve happened then alot of people would be praising Floyd's recent resume. Zab's lost to Baldy changed everything. What if Zab had beat Baldy like he was supposed to and Mosley had took the Floyd fight? That means 3 fights in a row Floyd wouldve fought Zab, Mosley, and Oscar. You cant keep blaming Floyd for all these things. Give the man his due and recognize his greatness

i agree with most everything said here, lot of good valid points, i often wonder what wouldve happened if floyd stayed at 135.... 130 probably not to realistic... i wonder also how far he could come down in weight today, could he make 135? i reallt dont think so.... would he come back down to 140 to fight hatton if thats what it took??

i think the best point here is the huge size disprcrepency here that floyd has overcome to beat guys like de la hoya... i mean seriously it was such a huge deal that castillo had 2 pounds on diego but people cant bring themselves to acknowledge that floyd is beating up guys who are naturally 10-15 pounds bigger.

at the same time, you can make these same points for a lot of the all time greats..... i mean what would hearns or sugar rays records looked like had they stayed at welterweight for a decade.

Good post DLT, as usually your post are a bit long but I dont mind since they are usually coherent and make good points.

I sometimes wonder how low he could come down in weight if he wanted to. I think he could make 140lbs since he claimed he weighted 148lbs at fight time versus DLH. However PBF is a bit different. He takes a long time to put on weight. He does it slowly and appears to add lean muslce not just pure mucle mass. I think 140lbs with not too much work but 135lbs is probably too much for him to make and still perform at a high level.

dlt, this is arguably the greatest post/thread i've read from you as far as just good ponts and raw information. i feel you will open a lot of people's eyes with this thread. i have posted a lot of your points in the past and i agree with you completely. he has called out so many names and they have turned him down. now, people on here won't call him great because of his resume. it's mind-boggling to read posts like that, with so many blind hatred for floyd. it goes from hating his attitude and trash talking to his performances in the ring, to who've he's faced. i mean, give the man credit for christ's sake. emanuel steward and larry merchant criticize floyd but they are just like many of you on here, they have blind hatred for him. manny is larry's puppet, and for a long time now he's been doubting floyd and making assumptions of who would beat floyd and he's been wrong every time. floyd is an all time great, whether you people agree or not, whether manny and larry agree or not. he is the best fighter in boxing today, an dhas been for a few years now, and imo has been the best fighter at any weight since he was at 135. his fights at 130 led me to believe this, and it's been uphill from there. floyd battles everyone it seems from the media, boxing columnists, commentators, to hateful fans, and yet, he's still undefeated, can go for 10 more years if he wanted to, and hurdles over tough obstacles placed in from of him. he has survived the adversity of professional boxing and you have to give him his due. he has proven to be where he is today, and he is an all time great and future hall of fame inductee, no doubt about it.

Many people hate Floyd Mayweather because he is really a trash talker. But i always loved him as a fighter. I keep saying this: His defense is better than Ali's. He has been my favorite fighter since i saw him fight for the first time.
Thank you for the post. That's all true. The truth many people would like to hide from... themselves!

True, true but he can't go for 10 more years. Floyd's style of fighting relies too much on chear speed and bullet-like reflexes... Somewhat like Roy Jones Jr but with the added defense. He needs to be fast, to react fast. he's chin was never really tested (not for lack of trying!). He could fight and win maybe another year if he had to, but he has retired.

The Reasons That Your Asking About Aresimple.. Floyd Had The Luxuary Of Being The Self Proclaim Best Becuase He Family Already Had Money And Wouldnt Take Less Money His Demands Were To High.. Even Larry Merchant Asked Him About Taking Less Money In An Inerview To Make These Fights Happen.. And Floyd Got Sensitive And Went Off..

Also, lets be real. Floyd has never got the credt he deserved for that Chico win. That was a prime Chico who was a straight up Monster. A ton of people thought he would not only win but kill Floyd. That Chico would destroy all those guys at 130 right now. Chico was just running through top guys like they were some kind of amatures. Floyd should get alot of more credit for that win
