Most fighters have debatable decision wins on their records! Yes there were a few debatable decision wins on Ali's career record, but they were close fights.

Think it was against a guy called Doug Jones.
      Apparently the decision was booed.

The 3rd Norton fight was a flat out robbery.
doug jones was a fairly good fighter from what i remember from some clips i saw of him, i thought norton won that 3rd fight.

Wasn't there a figth, where Ali was knocked down and his corner did something to give him more time to recover?

Henry Cooper left him shattered and semi conscious at the end of a round, and Ali's corner tore his glove giving him longer than the regulation minute to recover. There's no way he would have been able to recover without this bit of cheating.

            Good thread.

Yes, Clay beat Cooper by out and out cheating. Why hasn't Cooper been retroactively awarded that victory!?

I watched a video of the fight on ESPN. They spliced the rounds together and didn't even mention anything about the crooked business and made it appear that there was no extra delay at all- deliberate deception! In fact it seems that all the tapes that are in the public domain have been altered, spliced together, so now it is a matter of controversy just how much extra time Clay's cheating gained him. I think it was about four minutes, but even if it was one second Cooper should be retroactively awarded the win.

Some more crooked fights that the media's little darling won by cheating: probably the two Liston fights, the George Foreman fight (fixed ring ropes), and the Antonio Inoki wrestler-boxer thing (the Black ******s got the Yakuza to make Inoki an offer he couldn't refuse. Wrestling insiders say that Inoki would have taken out Clay in a matter of seconds had the thing been legit, as it was billed). Some have already been mentioned and were obvious, like the Doug Jones robbery.

bending the rules wasn`t uncommon in those days, besides, Cooper had a rematch and lost that.

"Bending the rules" is much more common right now! The rematch has nothing to do with the fact that Cooper WON the first match and the record books need to be corrected. Dundee has come right out and admitted that he deliberately cut Clay's glove. Some say that he did more than just cut it.

It isn't bending the rules to deliberately damage equipment. It is breaking the rules. Or, to make it more simple, cheating.

Who knows what would have happend
Maybe Ali would have been able to run for a round or so and still win .
