Countdown Cotto-Judah

The count down was ok. Didn't think it did much to lure the casual boxing fan into actually layin done their hard earned money to buy the fight. I'm buying it ofcourse because I know these two fighters and have followed them through much of their careers. I didn't really need this count down to know the potential of this fight to be Fight Of the Year. Go Cotto! Break'im down slowly, but surely.Comment

You know the problem with pulling in the casual boxing fan is that its a long term investment that individual promoters would have to each make consistently and most are unwilling because its a wild card. Of course I think they could spend their advertising dollars in a way that would pull in a lot more casual fans on a fight by fight basis but its not the safe way to go. Simple packaging of highlights of each fighter and pre-fight dramatization or hype on the right channels like other than HBO say ESPN would spark a big interest to check out this fight but again this may only result in creating lifelong fans in a percentage of these. The count down was ok. I watched the countdown today ON Demand. It was pretty good, plus I saw the Torres/Cotto fight as well, damn I forgot how good of fight that was and didn't realize that Cotto was in that much trouble. Torres had him hurt big time a couple of times, especially in that second round.Comment

there were moments that fight could have been called for Torres.I watched the countdown today ON Demand. Yeah, I had already written his first L in his record book. He was out and Torres kept hitting him with every kind of punch, any other ref would have stopped it. Even then Torres had to push him down to get the knock down, he may have had a questionable chin at 140 but he showed he's one of the toughest fighters to get KO in all of boxing. I just can't see many fighters in boxing history withstanding that attack while being out and then not just surviving the round or fight but getting back into a war a winning it.Comment

I just finished watching the countdown, and a few thoughts just dawned on me:
Thought one is that people say that Cotto seems to be able to take more of a punch at 147 then he could at 140. But it would seem to me that would probably have more to do with the fact that he fought Carlos Quintana and Paulie Malinaggi. Zab Judah 'aint them.
Second thought is that Judah has been saying that he is a new and focused fighter who is out to show that he can maintain focus and won't tire late. Sorry Zab, but the jury is out on that **** baby. You're almost thirty, and if you ain't shown it yet, you ain't showin' it now.
Last thought, not only am I going to miss this fight because my baby sister is graduating from high school all the way across the country, but I also came to the shocking realization that in wake of the Chico tragedy, Zab Judah is my favorite living fighter! Ain't that a *****. I didn't think it was possible, but I miss Chico a little more then I did this morning.Comment
