HEROES...teddy atlas.....people who bash our military on here

THIS IS A QUOTE FROM SOME KID LIVING IN CANADA AND MY RESPONSE IS BELOW. I AM SORRY I FEEL STRONGLY ABOUT THIS AND EVERYONE IS ENITLED TO THEIR OPINION BUT WHEN OPINIONS START DEGRADING THE HARD WORK OF OTHERS I THINK IT IS NOT RIGHT.

    MY RESPONSE
I see your living in canada huh. The only reason you dont live under an opressive regime like the **** germany of the ww2 era is because of the bravery of people like my grandfather. I am not pro war by any means but that statement you made is ****ing bull**** buddy. While you sit at home and type on your computer in the comfort of your canadian home millions of kids your age did not have the opportunity you did so they chose the armed forces. NO ONE chooses to go to iraq or afghanistan or vietnam or D day or germany etc. They are doing their duty protecting our freedoms. YOURS AND MINE. I am not saying i agree with the war in IRAQ but pieces of **** like you sitting on your couch talking boxing and who's their favorite boxer (hero) need to stop and think about what I am saying. Their are alot of boxers who in my opinion achieved hero status for thier accomplishments in and out of the ring, ALI being one. However, it was a choice of his to duck the draft and did not make him a hero. A martyr maybe, but not a hero. His work to achieve racial equality and his work for his people is what made him a hero in my eyes. Please people think before you write on this board because alot of our boys and girls are in the service and they are ****ING HEROES!!!!!!!!!

I'm not a kid, I'm an old man! And suggesting Muhammed Ali made the right decision all those years ago is not bashing the military.

Yeah, don't bring politics here. But while it's here:

"Killing people with bombs and powerful guns in some impoverished country like Vietnam or Iraq is not heroic."

That's too f'ing true! - and you might notice that the Bush and Cheney bitches ain't in harm's way - in fact the Bush bitches are on an endless round the world party, nor are any of the Bush and Cheney extended family of appropriate military age, nor any of the family of their radio and tv cheerleaders, nor are any of the families of "our" politcians, nor are any of the precious little ladies and gentlemen of their "neo con" speechwriters and handlers!

Rich mans war, poor mans fight, as always.

          I agree with this.

I would also like to add that Men and Women in the military should always be repsected and admired (With the exception of a few rotten apples of course) but in general the ones that door their job should be honored. It is not them that choose their battles,If you want to be upset about war you don't blame the soldiers you blame the government......But without these men and women we are all at risk.Sometimes you agree with the battles they have to fight, sometimes you don't but either way we are lucky to have those brave men and women.

Yes, I have the greatest respect for the Americans soldiers who liberated countries like France in WW 2. General Patton was arguably the best military leader in history. And the Battle of Midway was truly heroic, with the American navy being greatly outnumbered but still winning, and turning the tide of WW 2.

Didn't he look like George C Scott? The resemblance was uncanny. Sorry for the flippancy but this thread seems out of place on a boxing forum.

True enough, I hope the site administrator either deletes it or moves it.

i think some people on here are more gung ho about the military, than some people who are actually in the military, a veteran like myself can barely discuss dissent with certain things without setting off some kind of backlash. The political climate this country has come to a point where any disagreement about the troops/military turns into a fierce "YOUR DISRESPECTING THE TROOPS" and rants like this. On top of that, the topic creator has a need to emphasize the fact that the guy lives in canada, one of the ****in coolest places in the damn world.
