Didnt the old tyme fighters look stronger

just looking at the middleweights from the early 50's like Lamotta etc...

Todays fighters look more muscled, but the old tyme fighters just look like rocks. Do you think the fighters in the 50's or around that time period were better conditioned?

They probably were better conditioned answering my own question because they fought alot more often and boxing was more brutal back then, so if you made it to like top 10 status you probably had to be.

Bernard Hopkins looks like an old tyme strong middleweight and obviously his conditioning is tremendous considering he's still fighting at an elite level at age 42 or whatever.

looked stronger and tougher. back then steroids wasn't heard, now some boxers juice up and they get big. back then boxers were naturally strong.

There were not as many TKOs back then. If you could make the count, the fight wouldn't be stopped. There were no 'standing up but out on his feet' TKOs like today.

There was TKO's LaMotta was stopped in the 13th round on his feet in his 6th fight against Robinson as a famous example.

You have to remember that they fought alot more. Those guys would have 5 fights in 2 month sometimes while our guys fight once every 4 months.

Also, boxers didnt make much money back then so alot of those guys still had jobs and hard jobs. Alot of them had to work in steele factories and so on where they would lift heavy things all day long
