Andre Berto vs Cosme Rivera on ESPN

This is the fight ESPN was talking about,it is listed on there website and on boxrec

I think it is a good test for a prospect, many people think Rivera beat Joel Julio, plus he floored him and had him in big trouble, its a good test for Berto,im sure Cosme will come to fight and make him work,we will get to see how good Berto's defence is too

I got Berto by midround TKO,your thoughts?

Good. Another chance to see Berto. He KO's everyone so quickly lol. Rivera has some experience I believe so it should last at least 3 rounds I guess. I wonder if anyone has talked about Joel Julio vs Andre Berto.

That would be a good fight while it last

I was hoping that he was going to fight Carlos Quintana, but Rivera will be a good step up at this point in his career. I think Berto will KO him, but I hope Rivera will give him some rounds which I think Berto needs. For that reason I say KO 8. Berto's hand speed and muti-demionsal game will be too much for Rivera. Could Test his chin though.

I also wouldn't mind seeing Julio/Berto in the future. What a great fight that would be, but again I would pick Berto by KO for the same reasons I mentioned earlier.

I will save myself some typing and agree with this.

I also wanted to see Berto-Quintana,Quintana is a very good boxer,it would have shown us how much of a threat Berto really is

Yeah it would have. Quintana boxed the shoes off of Julio, but against Berto I don't think that would happen. Berto I think would put the kind of performance Cotto showed against Quintana minus the brutal body shots, but I think it would end in the same way with a KO for Berto.

I think that Berto's management is handling hm perfectly. Rivera will be a great test and a good way to measure Berto's level right now. Don't forget that Cosme has a great chin.

Rivera is the perfect test for Andre at this stage of his career. Once he enters his peak, he handles cats like Quintana and Julio; no need to fight them RIGHT NOW. I'd say early 2008, take one someone like Quintana, and then perhaps a Top 10 contender before making a run at the top by year's end, or early 2009.
