Question: Antonio, if not being in the ‘Rocky’ movie meant that you would have beat Hopkins, what would your decision have been on playing that part?

Tarver: I am no dummy. I think anybody would have cut their right arm off to be in a position to co-star in a major motion picture, a franchise as big as ‘Rocky.’ That is a no-brainer. If I had it to do all over again, I would do it the same way. I do not think I lost anything but a fight and I am always able to redeem myself and put myself in position to have a rematch. But it is once in a lifetime playing in ‘Rocky.’ Ten years from now, I do not think people are going to remember me (for) losing to Bernard Hopkins. I think they are going to forever remember me for playing in ‘Rocky Balboa.’ You can always go get the DVD.
I was the writer who posed this question to him in the conference call, and honestly, I was a little shocked by his response. Tarver needs to remember that he's a fighter first, and not a celebrity. His lack of modesty and surplus of arrogance is why he lost the first fights with Jones and Johnson. People will forever remember that on the night in which he auditioned for the Hall of Fame, Bernard Hopkins dominated him from bell to bell.

        Good words ASensi....

Tarver still sounds like his sporting the same old rubbish before another fight

I would of gave him mad respect if he just admitted that Hopkins was the better man on the night

What I wanted to hear was that he had learned from his mistakes, which were losing four fights that he had no business losing. He should still be undefeated right now, but he spends more time speaking in the third person and not enough humbling himself for war.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's an excellent fighter. But he just doesn't have his priorities right. He didn't listen to Buddy McGirt when he was trying to get his head in the right place, I honestly think beating Roy Jones ruined his career. I honestly do.
