Does anyone know? Who was favored to win. I'm assuming that Foreman was favored to win because of how hard he hits.
What were predictions on Foreman vs Ali?

How did ali take foremans punches? The guy moves ****ing trucks with his whole body. I hardly doubt Ali could even come close to moving a truck or probably couldn't even move a tiny car like foreman did... Foremans training is insane.Comment

I remember listening to that fight on a radio at the time. In the previous eight previous fights, Foreman had won eight consecutive 1st or 2nd round KO's, all against good boxers. Two of the last 3 he easily defeated were Ken Norton and Joe Frazier, both of whom had beaten Ali. Foreman had won the Gold Medal in the 1968 Olympics before turning pro.
Foreman was an unstoppable juggernaut in most peoples' minds. Ali was believed to be past his prime. Almost everyone thought Foreman would win, and the world was shocked at what happened.Last edited by Steelhammer86; 05-29-2007, 10:08 PM.Comment

I don't think anybody but Ken Norton picked Ali to win.
It's also funny how people look at that fight and remember it as a great fight, which it wasn't. It was incredibly one-sided. Foreman maybe won 2 rounds. It's only memorable because Ali was expected to get killed and knocked out the powerhouse that was Foreman.Comment

That's funny, my dad was saying the same thing. Foreman by ****cide, 30 seconds into round 1. So was pretty much everyone else. There were rumors that Ali even put some cash on Foreman to win by first round KO. That was the fight that pretty much defined Ali. More ring-smarts than anyone to ever live, and a fair amount of plain-old guts, to step into the ring with the monster that Foreman was in those days. The guy probably hit harder than any heavyweight who ever lived.Comment
