Have you ever actually checked the records of Hatton's 15 opponents before Tszyu? It will show how he got to be the #1 contender.

I suppose if someone doesn't like a fighter, he will say all his wins were against "garbage" opponents no matter who they were. No matter who Hatton beats, some people will say the opponent was no good or over the hill. But Tszyu wasn't so old at 35, he was the same age as Shannon Briggs is now, and 15 years younger than Sugar Ray Robinson was when he retired. Oleg Maskaev won his first title at 37. Bernard Hopkins was at his peak in his mid-to-late 30's.

But since some people hate Hatton, they'll have to say Tszyu was an old man at 35, because no matter who Hatton beats, they'll have no respect for him.

I cant pick any poll answer cuz there all bogus.. My answer is because he punches then holds.. all night long.. he aint anything truly special... Collazo kinda exposed him if you ask me, and he isnt even a real big name... 140 is a good division for him though, if he ever goes back to 147 is basicly a death wish, wayy too much talent at 147 for him to deal with..

At 5'6'' and 65'' reach, Hatton's too small to move up. Collazo is a bigger man at 5'9'' with a 72'' reach, but Hatton still managed to beat him. If the fight had been in Britain, you could blame the "biased judges", but it was in America.

No one Ricky Hatton's size can defeat him.

To me he seems to be a great guy and an asset to the sport. He's gotten to where he is today more by heart and toughness than by natural talent and great technical skills. I read the same negativity day after day on this board, and it always makes me wonder: what's the real reason some people hate Hatton so much?
He's hated because ******s like yourself continue to overhype him. You talk about him beating Floyd Mayweather when he struggles with Collazo, looks atrocious against Urango, and many feel he will lose to a faded Castillo...

Duran is the same size as Hatton and he went from lightweight to super middle. Next...

Compare the records of the boxers he's defeated to other fighters' wins. Instead of blindly hating him, do some serious research into who Hatton's really fought. And remember, he's still only age 28!
This pretty much hits the nail on the head. Its not Hatton that people don't like, its his fans that think these nobodies equal a good resume. Hatton is supposed to be the man at 140 and regarded as one of the best fighters in the world yet he won't fight the best. He beat Tszyu 2 years ago and hasn't made a real fight since. Castillo is decent, but really should be a guy he fights in between bigger fights. Maussa and Urango could've been Mayweather, Cotto, Witter, Harris or Lazcano. And if he was going to 147 he could've fought someone ranked in the top 10. Stop talking about it and fight a real threat.

But isn't De La Hoya past his prime? Why do you say Tszyu was past his prime, but give Mayweather respect for squeaking past DLH? Hatton actually stopped Tszyu, but many people think DLH won the fight with Mayweather.

He won those fights, yet you speak about him as if he lost! He hasn't fought Castillo yet, yet you assume he will lose.

Again I ask, why do you hate Hatton?
