Fix Boxing: How? Commissioner, Union, added rules, ?

Lets be honest, you may hate Dana, but the guy has what looks like a tight organization. Fighters may be getting under paid, but I am sure that will change as more money comes in. Most sports start out by under-paying their athletes, even boxing did this.

    Commissioner:
    Yes or No
    {if yes, who}

    Union:
For fighters rights, to help make sure fighters get paid, given the opportunity to fight and move up, and to fight the best...plus a retirement plan and health plan

Added Rules: To take from Pride, add a YELLOW card. Yellow Card will be given if the fight is slow/boring. Yellow card deducts 10% of your purse. Nobody wants to lose money so it is there to light a fire under your ass.

Glove Size: Smaller gloves/original gloves size like they had in the "Golden Age"
    yes or no?

Maybe the new league of boxing could start to open up gyms

    What else?

What are you for, what are you against.

    Oh, **** Vegas.

I also think there should be a continued vote by the fighters and others to pick who the Commissioner is, other authorities, judges (who will be reviewd), etc.

I don't think ring rules need to be changed much, but they do need to go back to smaller gloves and judges leaning in favor of the aggressor (that's the way it was back when boxing was the most popular sport). Here's the problems in boxing, and some solutions:

The boxing promoters have done a poor job. There used to be posters all over a city advertising upcoming fights, they don't do that anymore. The media pays too little attention to the best boxers. everyone should know about the Klitschkos, Hattons, and Pacquiaos but they don't, because there's nothing on the sportscasts about them.

We need to have the top fights on cable or networks, so people become familiar with the fighters, instead of PPV which has turned a lot of people off.

The sanctioning bodies need to cooperate. The boxers who hold a title, for example Shannon Briggs, should be rated as a contender for the IBF title, and Wlad should be listed in the WBC, WBA, and WBO ratings. Then the best would fight the best and the titles would have a lot more meaning. There was a time that the heavyweight champion was the best known athelete in the world, but too many sanctioning bodies have ruined that.

And we need to reduce the weight classes down to 12. Maybe these:
    105: Strawweight
    110: Flyweight
    117: Bantamweight
    125: Featherweight
    132: Lightweight
    140: Light Welterweight
    150: Welterweight
    160: Light Middleweight
    170: Middleweight
    185: Light Heavyweight
    200: Cruiserweight
    Unlimited: Heavyweight

definitely smaller ring and glove size, that goes for the Nevada commision as well. No added buerocracy that never helps anything.

The problem with ranking other org. champs is that you get a situation where all champs only fight champs and then nobody gets a chance to rise.

What we need is 1 organization/governing body rather than the alphabet soup we have now.

But if there was one sanctioning body, the matchups would be the same as if all fighters were ranked by all the sanctioning bodies. Either way, the best would fight the best. Some of the current titleholders like Briggs would have never won a title if they had to fight Wlad or Brewster.

I would like to see boxing having some kind of commissioner to overlook things and make decisions based on what's best for the sport. Also boxing needs someway to market the sport better.

8 oz. gloves gloves would be good for me and also if they made the ring smaller it could create less running as some like to say and creat more action which all fans love.

I agree smaller gloves. Go back to the 8 ounce gloves for Middle through Heavy, and 6 ounce for everything below that.

As far as oversight is concerned. I think fight results need to be open to review, and the possibility of being overturned. I think they need to include an averaging system into the score cards and have 1 official score card that all the judges contribute too.

If the round is scored 10-9 9-10 10-9 it goes down on the official score card as a 10-9.

I think there needs to be financial penalties for judges in a fight that is overturned by review.

Stuff like that. Checks and balances.

I also think the purse split needs to be decided in the contract, but the winner needs to get the lions share. None of this Oscar getting twice as much as Floyd even though he lost.

Another Option that would make things alot more interesting is if the purse split was determined by punch stats.

So lets say Fighter A throws 500 punches and fighter B throws 1000 punches. The purse split would be 75-25 for the guy that through 1000 punches.

You could also make the Purse punch stat dependent on a percentage basis.

If you throw 1000 punches in a fight, you get 100% of your purse. If you throw 500 punches you only get 50% of your purse. If you only throw 319 punches, cough cough, TAYLOR, you get 30% of your purse.

50% of any purse left over would be put towards a 401k plan for the fighters and the other 50% would be put towards some sort of Fighters healthcare plan.

If you get a knockout you automaticaly get 100% of your purse.
