    Roy Jones Jr. Question...(boxing history)

What other fighter in history moved from light heavyweight to heavyweight in the same year and was successful in both moves? When thinking about Roy Jones Jr.'s career it always impressed me how after beating Ruiz at heavyweight he moved down to his former division and pulled out a win there aswell. I'm not sure if this is a good question but I was curious about it...boxingscene family help me out here.

^Did Fitzsimmons hold the LHW title then win the heavyweight title then win the light heavyweight title back in the same year?

naw he's just the closest i could think of + his titles were linear championships.

That and he jumped right up from middleweight and won the heavy the same year .

        "Nonpareil" Jack Dempsey middleweight

        Jim Corbett Heavyweight

        George Gardner Light heavyweight

Back then everyone seemed to be jumping weight .

Sam Langford would have done even more if he wasn't ducked or if Johnson hadn't became champ.

Stanley Ketchel also jumped from middle to heavy and fought Jack Johnson but was ko'd .

Only ones to make it big in the heavys after being at a smaller weight for most of their career that I know of are Ezzard Charles[never a LT champ] ,Michael Spinks,Michael Morrer,James Toney and Holyfield [crusier weight]
