Its time we start CRITISIZING LAMPLEY and CO. for there lack of enthusiasm...

When there is a dull crowd.

When the crowd is into it, Lampley and Merchant and everyone else is very into the fight.

But when crowds come to the fights and they aren't into it, neither is LAMPLEY and his crew.

TONEY-JIROV is one of the best Cruiserweight fights of the last decade. But since it was in a gym lockerroom, and no matter how loud the crowd was, there wasnt gonna be to much noise. Lampley and co gave the worst performances of their careers.

But when PACMAN and MARQUEZ fight, in front of some of the loudest crowds in all of sports, Lampley is yelling and screaming at the top of his lungs.

They are commentators. Its there job to get into a fight and excite the fans. When the have a good fight in front of them, it shouldnt take the crowd to get htem going...

PAVLIK-MIRANDA was teh most recent example. The was RUINED because of the complete and utter LACK OF ENTHUSIASM from these guys. Not even when that first KD came around. And after the Knockout... NOTHING. Pathetic

I agree with you K, I've got plenty of complaints about the HBO team myself, but in all honesty it isn't gonna make a difference anyways.

        My complaints:

Lampley's over ethusiasm for dumb **** and lack of for **** he should be yelling like a school girl for.
Merchant's really really dumb comments. I like the guy, he's oldschool and all and sometimes says good ****, but sometimes I wanna take a hammer and knock him upside the head. Example, Pavlik-Miranda fight(fresh in our minds right?), when Miranda spits out the mouthpiece and Merchant goes all psycho on Steve Smoger for doing the right thing. What did Merchant expect him to do in that situation? Smoger handled it well and all you hear is Merchant going ape **** and that kills it for me each time I rewatch that amazing fight.
Emmanuel Steward, the guy has to cheerup abit. All his commentator talk is depressing. The guy knows his **** well and tells you how it is but a lot of times the way he says things, it sounds like something wrong is happening. It's like, "AND now the straight right is ALSO getting in." It's like, he feels bad for the guy taking the beating. He's also a flip flopper on who he feels is in control of a fight, but that's another story.
Lennox Lewis...get rid of this guy. He's horrid. He doesn't pronounce his words properly cause he's so nervous in like every fight, and his comments are useless. He says the most obvious **** and hasn't really said anything thus far that made me think, yeah this guy was made for commentating, he knows his ****.
Max Kellerman, guy is cool but I hate how he acts like he's an oldtimer. He talks about the oldschool fighters and **** like he was born back then. Ya know, sometimes you gotta just understand that a lot of us weren't born back then, so you can't expect us to talk about the old pros as if we saw them fight live. Kellerman knows his current **** but I hate when he talks like he's seen it all.

Edit-The way I said the talk about Kellerman, I dun mean that they shouldn't talk about Oldschool fighters for our current generation. I'm saying, HE shouldn't talk like he's been around back then.

The last 2 minutes of the 12th are great though you gotta admit. Steward goes crazy.

O yea, they did a great job in that last round. But if they couldnt get excited about that round... lol

But i did think that Stewards yelling was really annoying, and he never let Lampley say his great lines.

Sky Sports is much more "fair and balanced", but HBO has a lot of diversity to them thats pretty entertaining.
