After his win on Saturday, I think Pavlik will move ahead on the list of WBA contenders. He is the next mandatory for Taylor, and possibly for Abraham too. But he's also ranked by the WBA, so this fight isn't impossible.

pavlik is damn near untouchable right now at 160. the only thing we havent seen from him is how he deals with a real boxer, like a moving jabbing boxer. sturm (in a way) is that sort of boxer but i dont think he'll accomplish much against kelly primarily because of pavlik's reach. its very hard to box some1 who has that kind of range advantage over you.

I think Pavlik may get to Sturm the same way Castillejo got to him. He'd just keep throwing and after awhile Sturm would have a lapse and Kelly would get him outta there.
Sturm isn't a push over though. Apparently he's fighting again pretty soon....probably against an opponent who is there to be beaten.Comment

Yeah I could see that happening as well. Pavlik uses that reach really good by just being in range to land his monster shots and throwing such a high volume that it becomes his defense as well as his offense. In the Miranda fight Edison seemed to want to throw sometimes, but couldn't all he could do was survive the onslaught and wait for an opening. Even then when there was an opening he would get tagged and he would only land one shot while Pavlik landed many. Sturm could present some problems for Pavlik, but i think in the end his power and volume would be too much and Pavlik would get the KO in the 7th or 8th round.I think Pavlik may get to Sturm the same way Castillejo got to him.
