Why are the Peterson Brothers fighting in DC?

They say you can never go home again, and for the Peterson brothers, maybe they'd be better off that way. Anthony and Lamont Peterson are making their hometown debuts as professionals this Friday on ESPN2. The venue, The Washington DC Armory, was the scene of the most flagrant display of incompetence I can recall in a nationally televised fight.

April 27th's edition Friday Night Fights was marred by poor fight promotion and even poorer fight administration.

In the second round of the main event, Darling Jiminez knocked down Mike Anchondo and had him on the verge of a stoppage, only to have the round cut short by a minute.

Another lesser fight featured a ring doctor checking on a fighter's cut FROM HER RINGSIDE SEAT! Why not just have the ref work the fight via satellite?

With only a month lapse between that show and this, do you think the DC Commission has gotten it's stuff together? My guess is no.

Lol. That was a pathetic display.

There was maybe 6 or 7 people in the crowd! Thats REDICULOUS! lol that number is laughabley low but its probably accurate.

Peterson Brothers are really fun to watch though, so i would think a bigger crowd would arrive.

they actually fought there early in their career. in fact, I want to say it took place at the Armory. Whatever the case, it was aired via webcast, and was also poorly attended.

I remember asking both Lamont and Anthony a year or two ago why they prefer Memphis to DC. Their answers, without hesitation, "Because people show up there. DC is always home to us, but it's dead as far as boxing goes, even with all of the fighters representin' around the way."

I was kinda surprised this card turned up there. I guess with too much going on in Memphis this past weekend, they had to turn to their other home.
