Can anyone tell me how Pavlik would win a decision in this fight?

You need to land punches to get a decision.

A hard puncher at 160 will be able to KO a welterweight if he gets him.

How the **** is he going to land enough punches in this fight to win a decision and none of them be hard enough to knock Floyd unconscious?

Floyd mayweather would survive at middleweight the same way James Toney survived at heavyweight. Neither of the two belong in those divisions but they're both defensive masters. That michigan defense makes you almost unknockoutable.

Then Mayweather would win the decision. You can't excercise that great defense, meaning he doesn't get tagged, (like at all, because that would likely be a KO) and not get the decision.

I just don't see how anyone in their right mind thinks that Pavlik beats Mayweather by decision.

Floyd mayweather is a great fighter. Specially a great defensive fighter just as is toney. Samuel Peter hurt Wlad klitschko 3 times and he only managed to knock toney down once in 2 fights.

Pavlike is a good fighter but floyd with his defense just like toney would block most of the damaging punches and go to distance. He would apply his shoulder roll even more against middleweights then he does against smaller welterweights. Plus he has great footwork. He could dance his way to a decision along with his defense. And again this fight makes no sense so talking about pavlik beating him is like talking about Niclolay Valuev fighting Pavlik. Not gonna happen

this fight most likely will never happen...

mayweather is a natural lightweight fighting at welterweight...

                      pavlik is fighting at 160...

i cant see mayweather moving ALL the way up from 147 to 160.

its too much of a risk and im sure mayweather understands it favors pavlik WAY too much...

                      At 160:

                      mayweather's speed = gone
mayweather's power = gone (like it would play a factor if the fight was at 154 anyway)

pavlik would have all the advantages...

he'd be taller...longer armed...stronger...and mayweather would only be SLIGHTLY faster at that weight...

at 147 mayweather would dance circles around the slower pavlik...

at 147 pavlik's only chances would be to get lucky...he'd have a puncher's chance maybe due to the fact he'd lose a lot of power dropping that much weight.

i just dont think this fight it going to occur because the weight jump is too significant for either fighter...

the only way i can see it happening is at 154...and even then its not a sure thing.
