Miranda talks cash-money and it really is about the cash. Floyd talks cash-money when it suits him, legacy when it suits him, merit when it suits him. I think he used all three excuses not to fight Margarito.

To go a fight a living legend and WBC 154 pound champ in his 1st fight at that weight?

I don't think for a second that Mayweather would have lost to Margarito, but I think he may have been taken into the trenches and he didn't want to go there. I don't believe that fighters duck other fighters out of fear, but there were valid reasons to avoid a fight with Margarito, not least of which is that Margarito may well drag Floyd into the trenches.

Margarito drags floyd into the trenches?

          I dont think so,

I think Margarito gets brutally countered all night long in such a manner, relations between the US and Mexico will never be the same again.

I can answer your question quite easily. Floyd is more skilled than Miranda. He's more marketable than Miranda. Mayweather has put on boxing clinics in a way that Edison could never dream of. So why would a fighter who can speak well to the media, is seen as the pound for pound most skilled fighter in the game, and whom has shown such masterful performances getting slammed for his trash talk while Miranda gets off lightly? One answer: power.

People like Miranda because he's knocked guys the **** out. Floyd can't do that anymore. You can be like Tyson and talk about eating someone's kids- and if you can knock your opponent out you're seen as the loud talking bad ass. Miranda still has a chance to knock people out so if he talks smack, losses, and comes back with a HUGE KO people will let it slide. Floyd has to box, dance, move- and that's just not "bad-ass" to many boxing fans.

Plus, I'll make mention that Miranda talks his smack in Spanish. Us English speakers can read what he said but we have to hear Floyd running his mouth. Easier to ignore Pantera if you so choose.

Because Floyd is the best and doesn't need to rub peoples faces in it every second. Any logical fan would agree that he is the p4p king. I think when you get to that position you can stop talking ****.

Plus, Miranda is also an exciting fighter that people want to see again. If Floyd lost 2 fights, people would stop following him. And please don't give me the "It's called Boxing" cliché. I all of the boxers were like mayweather and cory spinks, there would be a very few boxing fans left.

So wheather or not you like sluggers or KO artists, you have to take your hats off for them as fans of boxing, since without them boxing would die. You cant convince me that you could convince a casual fight to watch spinks V taylor 2 if they had seen the first one. (mayweather is not as boring as sprinks, but certainly not as exiting as miranda or paquao type guys).

PS. I don't like **** talking period! They broke the mold after Ali.

I love to see a slugfest as much as the next guy and in my opinion Miranda's loss took nothing away from him, because atleast he came to fight .Yeah he talked ****, but in the end he made for a good fight and that is all that the fans care about. If Miranda would have danced around and won the fight on points (lets imagine) then I guarantee there would be way more **** talking about Miranda going on regardless of the fact that he won.

Mayweather didn't make his fight even remotely interesting, and honestly Oscar only helped. The point is there are plenty of good boxers with lots of skill, and average power, that can still make an interesting fight. Malignaggi for example isn't particularly powerful, but watching him pepper the **** out of his opponent is a lot more fun then watching him stick and move. If Mayweather is to be respected he needs to use his superior skills to fight, and not just box.

I would take the reach advantage of Mayweather over the height advantage of De La Hoya any day of the week. No excuse for PBF not to go for the KO when Oscar was clearly shot in the late rounds, especially after talking trash.

EXCELLENT POST!!!!!!!!! PBF fans are ******ed if they think he beat the **** out of DLH. Miranda is at least man enough to stand and fight. he may talk **** but at least he is a man and fights. His fights are worth watching and he doesn't bore you to sleep. Throw pitty pat shots, throw one punch at a time and run around.

Miranada was not backing up, he was being backed up but he was standing toe to toe trading, something Floyd will never do. Not to mention Mirandas fights are exciting.
