His style seems reasonably like Carl Froch: Low hand, hurtful hooks and uppercuts, finds the body well.

Of course his reactions were very good as well, more Floyd like.

I'd like to see more of him (and other home grown Aussie prospects).

I wouldn't describe his opponent as a "tough veteran" so much as a "professional opponent". He has 25 losses and has won only one of his last 20 fights.

Willie looks pretty good though. The trouble is you never know how they cope when the opponents dry up and they have to face real competition.

He has the coolest name I've heard in ages, thats for sure.

Looks like he has some promise. The low hands are always a concern when a guy fights another really skilled fast boxer.

Five of his first six had no fights, eight of the last ten were coming off a loss (or more) and the remainder were coming off draws/no contests... which followed a loss.

            So padding.

id describe geronco as tough. he's only 24 or something and he's had that many fights. im not sayin good but he's better than his record suggests. like many philipinos that come to australia he has been on the back end of some terrible robberies. ive seen him live and he is more capable than the record indicates.

still im glad other people are recognising the talent too. hope he goes well.

ill give u all an update after his australian title fight in july.

He's also been stopped half a dozen times.

His style kind of reminds me of a young Roy Jones Jr. But as not many boxers can get away with it, he needs to keep those hands up higher.

Impressive - let's hope he can sustain it as the opponents improve.
