For most sports, performance at the highest level is also the most pleasurable to watch.
E.g. take Roger Federer in full flight. When Roger is in top gear, he is not only near unbeatable but who would argue that he isn't the most aestically pleasingas well.
But in boxing, performing the art of boxing at the highest level involves hitting your opponent and not getting hit. Who would argue that Floyd isn't the best exponent at the art of boxing. BUT this isn't always the most aestically pleasing to watch.
So we have a situation where the best fights to watch involve boxers who are not the best at the art of boxing. Arturo Gatti has been in at least 3 fights of the year, Floyd has been in zero, yet who would say that Gatti is a better boxer than Floyd ? no one!
So now up and coming boxers have to decide whether they choose a style which excites people or a style which gives them the best chance of winning.
