I've got to be honest. I think that Calzaghe has been ****ing unlucky with the way stuff has gone here.
He wanted Hopkins, but Kessler came along in the meantime. Just as serious discussions were about to get started with Kessler the offer of a bigger name with more money and even a potential home fight came along with Taylor. However Taylor performs **** in his fight and all of a sudden isnt willing to come to Calzaghe....why? Well because he sees his semi-big-name mandatory contender get knocked out by someone who looks very VERY beatable (Pavlik looked good, but he looked slow as hell, left himself open for a lot of shots and wouldnt last half of the fight with Calzaghe), so Taylor will stay in his own backyard and probably take another un-risky UD against Pavlik. Meanwhile Calzaghe now has to try and get Taylor back interested by offering to go to the US and probably even raising more money to coax a Taylor (whose promoter pretty much admits is not at Calzaghe's level) into taking the risk of a loss.
Meanwhile Kessler's promoter will most likely be pricing the fight out of the market and making more demands than he ought to (due to the fact that he feels agrieved about being second choice). Warren wont bite to that and will likely just take on another fairly ****ty mandatory paving the way for a fight later in the year against the winner of the Hopkins/Wright fight. Kessler, who also will probably take on a relative nobody due to pricing himself out of Calzaghe's range will get no criticism whatsoever whereas Calzaghe will be hounded to **** by everyone on this site.
The annoying politics of boxing.
