squealpiggy is right, though, Floyd may have pressed the issue here and won via stoppage, and that would have been something to see.

... and that's exactly why the deal was squashed less than a day later. Info leaked out too early, at the "99% done" stage.

What's funny, though, is that while waiting on Kelly to clear his head so I could do the post-fight interview, we were watching rounds 7-12 of Taylor-Spinks in his dressing room. His trainer (Jack Loew) asks around round 11, "So what happens if Spinks wins tonight?" I respond "Then we get Spinks-Mayweather in November."

Silence, as jaws drop, before Miguel Diaz yells at me "You mudda ****a, you justa ruin his (Cory's) chance to win. Nobody gonna let a dat fight happen."

sure enough, less than ten minutes later, Jermain escapes with a split nod in a strangely scored fight (though truth be told, it's tough to argue against any scorecard for that fight).
