Im not the biggest Taylor fan there is but I do respect the kid. I cant understand why he gets ripped so much on here. Dont get me wrong, you can rip his skills but I dont get the other things. People act like he hand picks opponents and I just dont get that. He just had 3 straight fights against Hopkins & Winky. You can find many guys in history with a 3 fight stretch like that. Sure he's fought 2 small guys since then but I think he has that right, after those 3 straight incredible fights. Now if he does it again then you can rip him but I dont see anything that shows that will happened.
Also, its not like these 2 guys were bums. Merchant said that people said Hagler fought some small guys but then he said that those guys names were Leonard, Hearns, & Duran. Well these 2 guys arent them but there no bums either. It wasnt long ago that Ouma was called the most avoided man in boxing and I think Spinks is the most underrated fighter out there. He has a very solid resume and is a legitimate world champ at 154 and was at 147.
Then I see alot of people are upset on here because he said he will take the big money fight next. So? Fans are always talking crap but if it was them then they would take the money fights also. Taylor isnt Oscar. He's not making huge money. Even moreso, the big money fights will be great fights. People act like he's avoiding Pavlik. I think Pavilk is a beast and have some questions about Taylor but I would never question his heart. There is no way he is scared or even worried about Pavlik. Dude just had 3 fights with Winky & X and now he's scared of Pavlik just because he KO an overrated Miranda? My point is that the only way he wouldnt fight Pavlik is because he's fighting Calzaghe or Winky. You cant rip him for that and to me that would prove he isnt scared.
As for his fighting, I judge him differently. I have always said that he was completely flawed and is the most uncoordinated elite fighter in the game and one of the most of All Time. Thats why he looks like crap alot but make no mistake, the boy has some crazy skills. I dont care who he fights, no one is just going to kill him or walk right through him. There might be a ton of guys who look better but put them in the ring with him and he will do more then hold his own. He may not blow away guys that he should because he's flawed but he's not going to get blown out by anyone either. Until you see him fight a bum in his next fight then I dont think he deserves to be ripped with the guys he's fought. Im betting that he'll fight one of those big 3 in his next fight
