I dont think it was a robbery, but I wouldnt have said it was a robbery if cory got the decision either. I was appauled by how negative the commentary on the fight was though. Cory fought much more agressivly than he normaly does. If Corys name was Floyd Mayweather, and he fought that exact same fight against Taylor, it would have undoubtedly been a blowout victory for Mayweather. Its just how the fight game works. Spinks has a bad reputation as a boring fighter, so agression on his part is overlooked.
I watch the fight with my girlfriend, and she asked me why Taylor was "fighting like a *****".
I personaly think they need to add another posibility for the outcome of a fight, and that is a double loss. Both fighters should get a loss on their record, and Taylor should give his title up to Pavlik. The fight was abismal, but it wasnt as bad as I was expecting wich is saying alot.
I was expecting spinks to hold alot more, and I was expecting to Taylor to actualy jab.
Either way, it would have been better for boxing if Cory got the title, so sombody can take it from him in short order. Taylor is just sitting on the title and fighting bad opposition.
I have a bad taste in my mouth after that fight. It really should have been the undercard and not the main event. Pavlik vs Miranda on the other hand. Im gonna go watch it again.

Lol, I guess you need to learn alot about boxing, how in the hell do you compare Mayweather's fighting style to Spinks.
Both Taylor and Mayweather clearly won their fights.
I didnt compare their styles at all. I said that IF mayweather had fought the exact same fight, it would have been scored and called as a blowout win for Mayweather. Obviously they fight different. Mayweather is much more willing to be agressive, but the fact remains if Cory Spinks was named Floyd Mayweather, the judges would have been singing a different tune.
Lampley would have been touting the "Virtuoso performance" that we had just witnessed. And Merchant would have been asking Floyd why he didnt try and knock Taylor out.
If Floyd earned the win over De La Hoya, then Spinks earned this win over Taylor.

That is bunch of BS, you my friend need to learn how to score fights.
I had it 8-4 for Cory, but can easily accept any scorecard that had Taylor winning. There were a lot of rounds that were tough to score because so little happened. Because of that, it's almost not worth arguing over the final scores. I thought it was fitting that two judges saw two completely different fights. Scores in press row were just as wide.
I don't mind boxing matches, even slow-paced chess matches - I actually thought Floyd-DLH was a decent fight (though with zero rewatchability). But this was terrible, especially after being primed with a co-feature like Pavlik-Miranda.
Don't hold your breath expecting Taylor-Pavlik anytime soon. Not unless Pavlik's star-making performance TRULY translates to star-making power at the negotiating table. A less than stellar turnout certainly didn't help matters, as during my mile walk back to the hotel, I was stopped at least once per block (11 blocks total) and asked "Who won the fight?" If you're in Memphis and have to ask that, it's all you need to know about how "big" of an event this turned out to be - not at all.
Do you not understand what I am saying all? Seriously, you arnt even reading what I write. Im not saying Spinks won at all, I actualy think Taylor "won" if you can call any result of a fight like that a win.
The fact remains that had the fighter throwing the punches been Floyd Mayweather, he would have easily garnered the decision.
Im guessing you would have said, "Mayweather shut down Taylors offense with his jab" "You need to learn to score a fight, Mayweather out-boxed Taylor." "Taylor didnt throw punches because Floyd was too fast."
Undoubtedly Floyd hits harder than Spinks. He is better than Spinks. And had Mayweather actualy fought Taylor at 160, it probably would have been a total blowout for Mayweather.
All I am saying is that if Mayweather, punch for punch, fought the exact same fight as Spinks did against Taylor, he would have gotten the decision.
I also think there needs to be the option of handing both fighters a loss in the event that they fight such crappy fights. If they want to protect that 0 on their record they will actualy have to fight for it.
