I like the part in the article where it said the crowd was like "God Damn the White Boy can fight". I rememeber the first time I saw him fight that's exactly what I thought. IMO he is the real deal and is going to be a force in whatever division he is in. I heard he gives guys in the Kronk Gym trouble.

There are generally two types of prospects in boxing:

Those who are hungry for fame and fortune and have to fight their way to the top if they don't have the connections to take shortcuts.

Those who have the connections to take shortcuts.

Andy Lee and Johnathon Banks both have the same connections. Lee is the only one of the two who fights as if the first scenario is true.

Maybe Johnathon will eventually find himself and make some noise on his own. Or maybe it's just that Andy is that much better than him - and possibly that much better than any given prospect in the sport today.

i think this is blatantly untrue

banks stepped up and fought eliseo castillo in his 12th pro fight, castillo was an established heavyweight who had beaten michael moorer, banks was 24 and had not fought better than a journeyman opponent. that fight was extremely risky and was only gotten because of stewards connections. steward said it himself that banks didnt have the experience he needed but that he couldnt get him any other fights and he figured it was worth taking a risk. as you are seeing with his recent pattern he cant get good solid guys to fight him so he is staying busy in the meantime.. thats really all there is to that.

banks is rated by the WBO but do you think enzo mac is gonna fight johnathon banks? hell no, not if he has any choice... if banks were offered to fight enzo on 7/7 in wales he would take the fight.
